Oklahoma seniors slow to apply for college in wake of pandemic

Many Oklahoma seniors have yet to take an admissions test or apply for college as they begin their final semester in high school.
“I know it has everything to do with the pandemic,” said Christopher Lynch, vice president for enrollment and student success at the University of Central Oklahoma.
COVID-19 put students out of the classroom and parents out of work. It severely limited access to the ACT college admissions test and gutted the traditional college campus experience.
As of mid-December, applications to UCO from first-time freshmen were down by 709 students or 35% from the same point in December 2019.

Notre Dame Announces Swim & Dive Signing Class share
NOTRE DAME, Indiana The University of Notre Dame Swimming and Diving program announced the 2020-21 signing class, consisting of 18 swimmers and one diver from across the nation.

M. Nasir Shir the company’s new director of geospatial services. Shir will lead and work with Sewall’s geospatial team to diversify its clientele and acquire new projects involving geospatial technology, as well as participate in the quality assurance/quality control of geospatial data along with other members of the team. Shir brings with him over two decades of geographic information systems (GIS) experience, with his most recent position being the GIS manager for the city of Portland, which involved setting up, maintaining and upgrading GIS enterprise, hardware, software and servers, and building GIS applications. In his spare time, Shir volunteers with a wide variety of community and professional organizations and provides support to various immigrant community groups.
