Another big Amazon center is poised to open in South Florida, the latest in an ever-growing list of facilities the e-commerce giant is adding to offer speedier delivery service to thousands of people.
Kushner Companies is seeking county approval to build a 1 million-square-foot, Amazon-type distribution facility just west of the turnpike in unincorporated Delray Beach off West Atlantic Avenue.
If approved, it would become the single largest commercial/industrial project built in the Agricultural Reserve, a 20,000-acre zone in southern Palm Beach County designed to preserve agriculture and prevent over-development.
The New York City-based real estate company has become increasingly active in South Florida. It was founded by Charles Kushner, father of Jared Kushner, former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law.
“We are very bullish on Palm Beach County and will continue to look for opportunities,” said Laurent Morali, president of Kushner Companies. “We intend to develop this (the West Delray project) ourselves. We have received a lot of inbound inquiries from various parties interested in either teaming up with us or buying the site from us.”
