Portion of Hwy 21 back open in Garden City after railroad repairs | 99.7 | 1230 WSOK

GARDEN CITY, Ga. (WTOC) - UPDATE - Highway 21 is back open Thursday morning after emergency road work shut the major roadway down for two days.
The section of road between Chatham Villa Drive and Brampton Road reopened more than 24 hours ahead of schedule. However, residents in the surrounding neighborhoods saidthe detoured traffic caused a lot of back-ups near their homes.
A section of Highway 21 in Garden City will be closed for most of the week.
Both the northbound and southbound lanes of Hwy 21 will be blocked between Chatham Villa Drive and Brampton Road as crews work on the railroad tracks. Southern Commercial Development, a contractor for CSX Railroad, notified the city of Garden City that emergency repair is needed on the tracks. ....

International musician Tony Backhouse is running a gospel choir workshop in Napier.

The Napier Gospel Choir is shouting it from the rooftops. New Zealander Tony Backhouse will be back in Hawke s Bay to run a weekend workshop on June 25-27.
Tony is Australasia s most accomplished and well known community choir director. He is also a composer, author, singer, and musician.

STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - A woman is facing charges after police say she threatened employees at a Statesboro restaurant with a gun due to the wait time to enter the business.
On the night of April 21, Statesboro Police say Grace Eun Hae Lee, a 21-year-old from Ludowici, was angry over the wait when she entered Gnat’s Landing on South Main Street with a handgun. Police say Lee pointed the gun at the hostess and pushed her, then pointed the gun at other employees before leaving.
SPD says detectives used video surveillance of the incident and the suspect’s movement before and after the incident, as well as community tips to identify Lee as the suspect.Statesboro Police say cameras linked to the department’s new Fusus system were used. ....
