Siem Reap fisherman killed when stream bank collapses

A man was killed on April 4 when the banks of the O’Sangkat stream in Ta Siem commune’s Rohal village of Siem Reap province’s Svay Leu district collapsed while he was fishing.
District police chief Sun Eng told The Post on April 5 that upon arrival at the scene, officers determined that it was an accident with no other apparent factors involved.
“The man was casting his net over by the banks of the stream and it collapsed, killing him instantly,” he said.
Commune chief Toeng Lam identified the man as Chak Chem, a 21-year-old resident of Rohal village. ....

Work underway on war-footing to develop Miyawaki forests in Islamabad

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority is successfully implementing the Miyawaki Forests project and the first phase of work on various locations has been completed ahead of time.
The official record showed that initial work has been done in Fatima Jinnah Park and sector I-10 where thousands of local plants have been planted according to the techniques adopted to develop Miyawaki forests.
It is believed that the Miyawaki forests currently being planted would grow in next two to four
years but they would turn into thick jungle in ten years.
The staff workers of the civic agency have also got training for this specific technique is quite new in Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan is taking a keen interest in growing Miyawaki ....

Cambodian tourist attraction Angkor sees 98.8% drop on year in foreign visitors in Q1; rice export also down 33% on year in Q1


PHNOM PENH, April 4 (Xinhua): Cambodia s famed Angkor Archeological Park received 4,482 foreign visitors in the first quarter of 2021, down 98.8 per cent from 383,663 over the same period last year, confirmed a statement.
The ancient park made a gross revenue of US$185,079 from ticket sales during the January-March period this year, also down 98.9 per cent from 17.9 million dollars over the same period last year, said the state-owned Angkor Enterprise s statement.
The huge slump was due to the Covid-19 pandemic that has forced the Southeast Asian nation to impose entry restrictions for all foreign travelers since March last year.
Ministry of Tourism secretary of state and spokesman Top Sopheak pinned hopes for a tourism recovery on Covid-19 vaccines. ....
