SAN DIEGO (KGTV) â Our California hospital system is taking a major financial hit from the pandemic. Adding resources like staff, beds, and testing put hospitals at a $14 billion loss in 2020 according to the California Hospital Association.
At the start of the pandemic, hospitals were racing to add more space and resources. Doctors and nurses were overworked while PPE and ventilators were nearly impossible to find. Healthcare leaders across the state say theyâre still struggling to stay afloat.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) â Dozens of people spent Tuesday camped out outside the Balboa Park municipal gym hoping to get any leftover doses of the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine.
Tuesday morning, The San Diego Fire-Rescue department began administering the first batch of doses to those who are eligible since the first shipment arrived on Monday.
Addie Burnett said she hasn t been able to get an appointment over the phone and she doesn t have a computer. At the age of 80, she s been eligible for weeks.
