NEW YORK – At least one person was killed and two injured after a shooter opened fire inside a manager s office at a Long Island grocery store Tuesday, police said.
The Nassau County Police Department tweeted that the suspect has been apprehended and taken into custody. Earlier, Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder named Gabriel DeWitt Wilson as a person of interest and told reporters the suspect fled the scene at the Stop & Shop in West Hempstead, New York, heading west on a turnpike.

WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) One person is dead and two others are injured after a shooting at a Stop & Shop on Long Island.
Police responded at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday to the grocery store on Cherry Valley Avenue in West Hempstead.
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said a 49-year-old employee was killed, and two others were hurt. The injured workers were conscious and speaking with investigators.
The shooter fled the scene, carrying a black handgun. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black baseball hat and black mask.

Investigators are looking for a man they believe shot three people Tuesday killing one in a manager’s office of a grocery store on Long Island, police said.
The shooting happened on an upper level of a Stop & Shop grocery in the community of West Hempstead, New York, while a couple hundred people were inside the store, police said.
Gabriel DeWitt Wilson is someone “we believe is the shooter,” Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said.
“He left the scene, and he was witnessed still carrying the handgun,” Ryder told reporters.
