State Finalists for 2021 Governor s Honors Announced

The Citizen your username your email Password recovery A total of 16 students from Fayette’s public high schools have been selected to attend the 2021 Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) this summer on the campus of Berry College. Half of the students are from the 2020 GHP cohort. Since the program was not held last year due to the pandemic, students who are still grade eligible (sophomores and juniors) were invited to join the 2021 cohort. (WALB) - The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement recently sent out exit test scores to all the school systems in the state. Lee County teachers of English as a second language said their second place achievement surprises them. English instructor Ami Patel said compared to bigger cities, like Atlanta and Gwinnett County, who have diverse communities, winning an accolade of this sort wasn’t expected. Students can start this program from Kindergarten to 12th grade, after an access test for the program, which can be done at any age. It’s based on how proficient the student is.
