The Educational
Technologist leads in the design, development, and management of
technology-mediated teaching and learning, especially pertaining to learning management
systems (LMS) and associated educational technologies. This individual also provides
instruction, training, and assistance on the effective use of various educational
technologies that facilitate learning and improve student performance by
creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources.
The position will be based in an AMIDEAST field office in the MENA region, however
remote work from another MENA location may be considered.
As a member of AMIDEAST’s Program Department, the Educational
Technologist manages the delivery of AMIDEAST’s e-learning resources and provides

Doha: The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) held its annual English language learning and teaching seminar on Sunday, February 7, 2021. This year the topic was Academic English in a Virtual Setting: Aspects and Sustainability. The event took place online and around 400 English language teaching professionals from various universities, colleges, and schools from both the Doha and international community attended.
The welcoming remarks were given by Dr. Alaa El Gibali, Director of the Language Center at the DI. He stated that the seminar supports the Language Center’s mission in developing linguistic and cultural capacities for excellence in knowledge production. The Language Center at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies will hold its annual English Language learning and teaching Seminar. The event will take place online on February 7th, 2021, from 3:00pm – 6:00PM (Doha time) via Webex. The topic this year is Academic English in a Virtual Setting: Aspects and Sustainability.
The opening remarks will be given by Alaa Elgibali, Director of the Language Center at 3:00pm, followed by three professional and academic presentations from the international community on topics related to English language teaching in the context of higher education. Over the past year, we have witnessed the value of technology in education. Technology has not only been an essential tool but an important bridge for learning when students could not attend school physically. Technology will continue to play an important role in education and we must teach our students to leverage its possibilities for learning.
An example of how this is being done across the Copper Country is the Japan Postcard Project. Locally, this project is led by the Copper Country’s Educational Technologist, who coordinates with the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education. On the surface, the Japan Postcard Project is like a traditional pen pal project but much more high-tech.
