The MLB Draft is still three months away, but our experts, Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo, are set to release an updated and expanded Draft Top 150 later this week. While they won’t give the order away in advance, they did offer a sneak preview on the latest Pipeline Podcast.
Guided by host Jason Ratliff, Callis and Mayo alternated making the first 20 picks of the Draft, based on their personal preferences and not trying to project what each club will actually do. Many of Illinois’ public schools have been shuttered for over a year. Now, Gov. J.B. Pritzker is threatening to cut off one of the few ways low-income and working-class kids and families gain access to educational options.
The governor proposed in his fiscal year 2022 budget that the state should drastically reduce the incentive to donate to Illinois’ tax credit scholarship program. It offers low-income families scholarship money so their kids can attend the schools that best suits their needs.
Here’s how it works. KING Meeting Monday night, the City Council approved a rezoning request that will allow a new apartment complex to be built on Newsome Road.
The request, from the BTR Communities Group of Lewisville, was for rezoning a 7.99 acre site to a conditional use permit for multi-family residential units.
Bill Scantland, representing the developers, said the project would be very similar to the Conrad Corners apartments, on Conrad Corners Circle behind AutoZone and the King Kitchen, which was approved by the Board about five years ago.
This new Newsome Road complex may be slightly larger, he said, as the Conrad location has 60 units and this one has been approved for 80. The apartments will be one-, two-, and three-bedrooms, in five two-story buildings. Rent for these apartments will be on a scale based on income.
