Question: Are changes being made to convenience stores operations? Answer: The relationship between convenience store headquarters, which provide the trade name and operational know-how, and their franchise stores has been worsening in recent years. ANA and Seven-Eleven Test Drone Delivery System
A group led by ANA Holdings and Seven-Eleven Japan has started testing the delivery of daily necessities and medicines on Nokonoshima in Fukuoka City. Customers can order their supplies from Seven-Eleven’s Net Conbini site. After orders are placed, the staff at a Seven-Eleven in the city drive the items to the drone launchpad, load them onto the drone and deliver them to customers’ houses. There are currently no shops that sell general goods on Nokonoshima, so residents need to take the ferry to the city to do their shopping. The drones can carry up to 5 kg of goods. During the tests, it was found that goods could be delivered within 20 minutes of being ordered.
