On Wednesday afternoon, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office identified Warda Syed, 35, and her son Uzair Ahmed, 11, both of Boonton, as the woman and child pulled from the Rockaway River in Grace Lord Park late Tuesday night.
A second child, a 6-year-old boy, found at the scene was also confirmed as Syed’s son, the office said. The child’s name was not going to be released, the office said.

A woman and an 11-year-old boy were found dead Tuesday evening in the river in a Boonton park, authorities said.
At 5:39 p.m., a passerby called 911 and told police a 6-year-old child was shouting for his mother in the upper pond section of Grace Lord Park, Acting Prosecutor Robert Carroll said at a joint press conference with Morris County Sheriff James Gannon and Boonton Police Chief Stephen Jones at the park Tuesday.
