Dear Editor,
It’s election season in the Wyoming Republican Party and all across the state liberals, who for many years successfully exploited the Republican brand in order to get their left-wing cronies elected to public office, are in a collective temper tantrum over the successful grassroots effort which has made great strides in returning the Party of Reagan to its conservative moorings.
Uinta County is not immune. A small group of people whom I will charitably call moderates under the leadership of Jon Conrad, Scott Dickerson and Jay Anderson and undoubtedly encouraged by others in.

State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:
Lawmakers last week restored $8 million in appropriations to both UW and the state’s community colleges, along with an additional $15.5 million for UW to buy a student housing complex. The Wyoming Tribune Eagle and The Casper Star-Tribune (CS-T) reported that Gov. Mark Gordon signed the overall supplemental budget. Yahoo! News, County 10 and The Rocket Miner published similar articles.
College Consensus ranked UW as the 23rd “Best Value Colleges and Universities for 2021.” Tuition costs were the main focus of the annual “Top 100 Most Affordable Consensus Ranked Schools 2021” list by the educational resource website.

Jon Conrad was done with sitting on the sidelines.
The Evanston resident had been engaged at the state level for decades. Conrad had served under former Govs. Matt Mead and Dave Freudenthal, as chair of the Wyoming Workforce Development Council and as vice chair of the Wyoming Board of Parole. For the last two years, he’s worked as the governmental affairs officer for his company, Tata Chemicals.
He had been civic-minded at home as well, closely involved in economic development activities across Uinta County.
On paper, Conrad looked like the model of the citizen-politician that Wyoming.
