Local musicians, comedians and business owners are coordinating a benefit concert and comedy show to support the United Mine Workers of America.
Alabama Strike-Fest will take place Saturday, May 22 at noon. The benefit will feature both musical and comedic artists such as Mike Cooley, Lee Bains + The Glory Fires, Drew Morgan and DJ Lewis. Food will be provided by The Alabama AFL-CIO’s BBQ Pitmasters Chili Cookers.
The strike has been going on since the beginning of April when Warrior Met Coal workers ceased production due to unfair working conditions. Warrior Met Coal proposed a new contract to its employees, which they found insulting.

In a video released this week by the Army s Medical Center of Excellence, Army Col. Drew Morgan, a NASA astronaut, demonstrates the test while aboard the International Space Station. Some events still presented a physical challenge, thanks to special equipment that enables astronauts to work out in zero-gravity conditions; others simply seemed ridiculous.
Morgan, who was selected by NASA to become an astronaut in 2013, is an Army emergency physician and former member of the U.S. Military Academy s Black Knights parachute demonstration team. He was last at the International Space Station from July 20, 2019, to April 17, 2020. The video release comes the same week two other NASA astronauts, Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur, departed on the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket for a tour aboard the ISS, joining an international crew already in orbit.

Russia and China have sealed a partnership for the building of an International Scientific Lunar Station, an infrastructure on the Moon that according to a report, would rival the planned Gateway of NASA.
The Verge specifically reported that the partnering agencies announced that they signed an agreement to work on the said station orbiting the Moon.
The two space powers had been into discussions for months as Russia reportedly mulled whether it would partake in the Gateway program of NASA, a rival space station to be developed by an alliance of other countries in the next 10 years.
