PAWTUCKET – Regular outages of lights on the landmark Pawtucket River Bridge continue to diminish its overall look, prompting the Rhode Island Department of Transportation to evaluate options going forward.
The Valley Breeze reported five years ago this month that RIDOT officials believed they’d finally resolved all issues with the lights on the Pawtucket River Bridge and were almost ready to accept the $81 million project as complete.

PAWTUCKET – A top-to-bottom reconstruction of the downtown’s centerpiece architecture is now in the works after officials determined that a facelift for the Pawtucket City Hall tower wouldn’t be enough.
Joe Morais, project leader at the Pawtucket Department of Public Works, wrote in a memo last week that the city has decided on a full removal and replacement of the current tower rather than a short-term maintenance program that was once thought viable.

Demand for pools remains very high as Rhode Island moves toward its 2021 swimming season, but local pool store owners say they currently have enough chlorine on the shelves for now.
National news outlets are warning that a chlorine shortage could throw a wrench in the summer season, and Jeff McLaughlin, of Branch Village Pool & Spa Needs in North Smithfield, said that while he’s heard of other areas dealing with a shortage in chlorine tablets, he hasn’t had a problem yet this year. The North Smithfield store, he said, is currently well stocked with both liquid chlorine and tablets.
