The review commission, which is made up of five Missouri City residents, meets every four years to inspect the charter and assess possible updates, said Joe Workman, a former City Council member who chaired the most recent commission. “The charter review commission is simply somebody to sit down and kind of review the charter, look at things that might have changed over the years, the way the world is changing and the way the Texas Legislature [has changed],” Workman said. The commission brought six proposed amendments for this year s election to council, which added three of its own earlier this year.

JC: I am seeking re-election as a trustee to continue addressing the challenges and implementing plans and learning from my last three years of service. I want to continue the progress made to improve student outcomes, provide equity, invest in teacher and staff development, and provide the necessary support services to ensure that all students succeed. My daughter and son benefitted greatly from their Plano ISD education from Kindergarten to 12th grade. . They had excellent academic preparation and had amazing leadership development opportunities through student government, athletics, band, and Peer Assisted Learning (PALs). I want to ensure that EVERY Plano ISD student has a pathway to explore and succeed in their own academic and extracurricular interests and passions.

NH: I pledge to serve the students, families, teachers and stakeholders of the district and give my promise to serve our community with honesty, integrity and dedication, looking through a lens that focuses on what is best for every student in Plano ISD, as I have for 11 years. How has your experience prepared you for board service? NH: In 11 years on the board, I’ve served as president, VP, and secretary. I chaired the board audit committee for 9 years, served as liaison to: city of Richardson (11 years), city of Plano (7 years), Richardson Chamber of Commerce Education and Workforce Committee (3 years), Head Start Policy Council (7 years), [and] was one of 36 trustees in Texas to participate in Leadership TASB 2015, earning designation of master trustee. During one of my three terms as president, our board was named Outstanding Board in Region 10 and one of five Honor Board[s] in Texas. I
