According to KJAS in Jasper, County Deputy Kevin Holloway said that a body was found yesterday shortly before 5pm in an area where a search was underway for a missing man in a wooded area about 200 yards off of Highway 63 West. A Justice of the Peace was requested to the scene and it is expected that an autopsy will be ordered. At this point they can t be certain if the body is that of 69-year-old Jerry Lee Jett pending positive identification at autopsy. Officers from the county and state were searching for Jett as he hadn t been seen or heard from in about 10 days.
UPDATE THURSDAY 4:50 P.M. - Jasper County Deputy Kevin Holloway said that a body has been found in an area where a search was underway for a missing man. Holloway said the body was discovered shortly before 5:00 p.m. Thursday in a wooded area about 200 yards off of Highway 63 West, and near County Road 019.
According to Holloway, a Justice of the Peace was requested to the scene and he said it s expected that an autopsy will be ordered.
However, at this point they can t be certain if the body is that of 69-year-old Jerry Lee Jett pending positive identification at autopsy.
