A selfish shooter
Thumbs Down: Last week, someone with a BB or pellet gun thought it would be cool to go around shooting at the windows of vehicles, homes and businesses in Alexandria. Sixteen incidents were reported to the police department. One of the homes that was hit was Mat Hennen’s. The shooter left a bunch of bullet holes in his big living room window – in a direct line with a place where his dog and kids often play. Fortunately, no one was injured but it left Hennen, and other property owners, feeling frustrated and angry. “What bothers me,” Hennen said, “is that it took the shooter five seconds and about $2 worth of ammunition and it’ll cost me a couple thousand dollars for the window… If someone wants to go and shoot some place, I have a field to show him.” Hennen hopes that someone with more information about the shootings will come forward and contact police at 320-763-6631. AVON LAKE, Ohio The Avon Lake Historical Society is a true asset to the city, and its members do some amazing work. If you have attended events in the city such as the North Coast Christmas with Santa visit, cemetery tours, Rockin the Rails and other library events, the Avon Lake Historical Society was part of the planning or was the host.
Preserving the history of Avon Lake is vital, and all members of the society should be commended for their efforts.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Between the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas every year, it s hard to miss The Salvation Army Bell Ringers. They stand in the entryways of area stores, hoping for your donations which will help provide the essential gifts of food, shelter to those who need it.
A bell ringer in Grand Rapids, who is challenged by blindness, is offering more than a continuous shake of his wrist, and his action is causing passersby to pause and do more than donate.
