After throwing the coin while passing the other vehicle in the emergency lane, Liam Dibb crashed into a concrete barrier, destroying his Mazda sedan. Liam Stuart Dibb, 32, a panel beater from Woollongabba, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and consideration; endangering the safe use of a vehicle by throwing an object; and driving when drug positive. Prosecutor Sergeant Paul Caldwell said police were called to investigate a crash about noon on October 9, 2019. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A YOUNG man with an intellectual disability has been refused bail after an Ipswich magistrate found his behaviour poses too much of a risk to the community. In the problematic case of what exactly the court should do given his special circumstances, the young man is under the care of the Public Guardian but it is alleged that he continues to abscond from his designated carers and behave aggressively. In recent weeks he has appeared in custody before Ipswich Magistrates Court charged with offences of violence. After being granted bail last week and released into the care of a supervised residential facility, he was rearrested by police within hours and charged with new offences. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A RESIDENT of the City View Hotel in Ipswich has been granted bail following an Easter Monday incident that resulted in a man suffering a broken ankle. Rodney Arthur Clements, 38, from West Ipswich, appeared via watch-house video-link before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with committing an assault causing grievous bodily harm at Brisbane St on Monday, April 5. Prosecutor Senior Constable Bridie O Shea said police opposed bail. Written police facts were handed up to Magistrate David Shepherd to read. Nothing of the allegation was read onto the public record. In making the bail application, lawyer Matthew Fairclough said Clements resided at the hotel and would abide by any curfew if bail was granted. ....

The law caught up with Katelyn Aldred, who blamed a former boyfriend for stealing the car when she faced Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Katelyn Rose Aldred, 22, a disability pensioner from Sadliers Crossing, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to unlawful use of a stolen motor vehicle on February 15; and stealing premium petrol worth $72 at Caboolture Puma service station on February 15. Prosecutor Senior Constable Bridie O Shea said the car was reported stolen by a woman at 3.20pm on February 14. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only Alarm bells went off when police noticed a car being driven suspiciously slowly through a car park at Redbank Plains. Ipswich Magistrates Court heard the driver, Daniel Pauley, was breath tested and confirmed police suspicions, registering 0.112 – more than double the normal alcohol limit. Daniel Blair Pauley, 42, from Redbank Plains, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to drink driving when on a probationary licence in Redbank Plains on March 17. His alcohol reading should have been zero because of his licence status. Prosecutor Senior Constable Bride O’Shea said it was just after 6pm when police saw a black Holden Cruze sedan being driven “in an excessively slow manner” in the carpark. ....
