It was back in 1956 when Gioacchino Vaccaro, an immigrant from Palermo, Italy, opened Vaccaro s Italian Pastry Shop in Little Italy. As Vaccaro s gets ready to celebrate their 65th anniversary, because of the coronavirus, the celebration is bittersweet and almost didn t happen. Vacarro’s is a Baltimore institution, and like a lot of restaurants and cafes in Baltimore City, they’ve been struggling during the pandemic, but now thanks to the Jimmy’s Famous Fund, they’re able to celebrate their 65th anniversary, giving back to their customers through what else cannolis.
