There were 14,694 cases in the general population and 641 among prison inmates. Bangkok continued to lead new infections with 2,700 cases, while its five neighbouring provinces Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom had a combined 3,369 transmissions, according to figures from the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) posted on Sunday

On its Facebook page, Central Department Store said a total of 16 branches will be closed to help curb the soaring Covid-19 infection rate.
