Copyright Office opens door to cultural organisations

Different cultural organisations, including music troupes, recitation troupes, dance organisations, literary organisations and theatre troupes will be able to officially register with Bangladesh Copyright Office from now on.
Bangladesh Copyright Office registrar Zafar Raja Chowdhury confirmed the matter to New Age on Friday.
‘Though cultural organisations cannot register themselves with NGO Affairs Bureau or Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms, they will be able to register with Bangladesh Copyright Office from now on. Earlier, there was no way for cultural organisations to register themselves. State minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid made the decision on June 2 at a meeting which was attended by three music organisations namely GeetiKabi Sangha Bangladesh, Singers Association of Bangladesh and Music Composers Association of Banglad
