Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the state in a meeting and directed the health officials to focus on tracing and treating the positive patients at the earliest.

Telangana administers only Covishield on Day 1 By IANS|   Updated: 17th January 2021 12:44 am IST Hyderabad, Jan 16 : No Covid-19 vaccine beneficiary in Telangana was administered Covaxin on Saturday, the first day of the vaccination programme. The vaccine manufactured by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech was not used for the rollout. All the beneficiaries in the state were given only Covishield, which has been manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII), Pune. At the launch of vaccination at Gandhi Hospital, state health minister Eatala Rajender said only Covishield will be administered as per the guidelines of the Union Ministry Of Health and Family Welfare. Health officials said 90 per cent of targetted 4,200 beneficiaries were administered the vaccine at 140 centres across 33 districts.

(DC Image) Hyderabad: The Covid-19 vaccination drive took off here on Saturday with S Krishnamma, a safari karmachari or sanitation worker at Gandhi Hospital, becoming the first person to receive the vaccine. Witnessing the event were Health Minister Etala Rajendar, Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy. As many as 3,600 persons, all healthcare workers at government hospitals in Telangana, are slated to receive the vaccine on Saturday.
