GREAT BEND TRIBUNE Sunflower plans virtual Gala; items needed for live and silent auctions Cody Harris arranges a few items that have been donated to the Sunflower Diversified Services Charity Gala silent and live auctions that will be available online April 24. Harris is director of planned giving and community support at the non-profit agency. Even though the traditional Sunflower Diversified Services Charity Gala had to be canceled this year because of the pandemic, a virtual substitute has been scheduled. The all-day event is set for Saturday, April 24, featuring silent and live auctions. The silent version will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the live auction is scheduled for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Redburn is Grand Knight of the local K of C and Prescott is chief executive officer at Sunflower. When the Great Bend Knights of Columbus (K of C) recently donated more than $3,200 to Sunflower Diversified Services, the timing was perfect. Sunflower Early Education Center (EEC) needed new equipment for infant and toddler hearing tests and the donation allowed the non-profit entity to order it. “The timing of our donation is something we are very pleased with,” said Dennis Redburn, Great Bend K of C Grand Knight. “We are happy to help in whatever way we can.

Randy Cobb retires from Sunflower Diversified Services board

GREAT BEND TRIBUNE Randy Cobb retires from Sunflower Diversified Services board Randy Cobb, center, is recognized for his 17 years of serving on the Sunflower Diversified Services Board of Directors. Sunflower Chief Executive Officer Jon Prescott, left, and Board President Scott Donovan present Cobb with a plaque and lifetime pass to the non-profit agency’s Charity Gala. Randy Cobb had been familiar with Sunflower Diversified Services for a while and decided he wanted to advocate for the non-profit agency that supports children and adults with disabilities and delays. Therefore, he sought a position on the board of directors and served for a total of 17 years during two terms. Cobb, Lyons, recently retired from the board.
