2020 KCSE results to be released today in calendar disrupted by pandemic

‘Human face’ Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha promised that the examinations would be administered and marked “with a human face”, to assuage fears of learners who felt inadequately prepared to sit the test. “We are all determined to ensure (that) grades awarded to our learners are all merited and that our academic qualifications are beyond reproach,” Prof Magoha said at the end of the examinations. The CS has given today, May 10 2021, as the deadline for release of the results. On Friday last week, he said that the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) only needed a couple of days to process the papers received from the markers.

The use of biometric validation will assist in vindicating innocent teachers from being blamed for offences they did not commit. According to Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia, the teachers would screenshot examination questions using their cell phones.

State has abandoned teachers in their hour of distress - Sossion

OPINION KNUT Secretary-General Hon. Wilson Sossion.[Edward Kiplimo,Standard] Failure by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to implement the 2017/2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in its entirety has exposed a reality that Kenyan teachers have long confronted – the government has failed to enforce the labour laws. Going by what 376,774 teachers in Public schools are exposed to, it is now clear that we have very weak systems of labour protection, of which some individuals have taken advantage to trample on teachers’ professional and labour rights with the sole aim of incapacitating Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut). Teachers are the key to achieving the Education 2030 agenda, so this target is critical and it requires urgent attention.
