Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh is eagerly awaiting Central assistance worth nearly Rs 1,000 crore as compensation for damage to crops and infrastructure following the continuous rains and floods from August to October, 2020 and again due to Cyclone Nivar storm in November last. Two Central teams visited the affected areas to inspect the damage.

The government transferred and posted K. Kanna Babu, Special Commissioner of Disaster Management (DM) and ex-officio Additional Secretary of revenue (DM) as the Secretary of the State Election Commission.
He is kept in full additional charge of the posts of Special Commissioner and ex-officio Additional Secretary of revenue (DM), Managing Director of AP State Disaster Management Authority and the Commissioner of Fisheries until further orders, according to a G.O. issued by the Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das.

Amaravati, Dec 16 : At least two Central government teams will arrive in Andhra Pradesh to evaluate the devastation caused by the recent very severe cyclonic storm Nivar in the state. Central teams to evaluate Nivar affected districts for two days on Thursday and Friday, said AP State Disaster Management Authority Commissioner K. Kannababu.
On Thursday, a team each will visit Chittoor and Nellore districts, followed by visits to Guntur and Kadapa districts on Friday.
