Dialysis services have expanded at the Russell Health Centre to accommodate 12 more treatment spots, bringing the total number of available to 24.

That’s good news, as the number of Manitobans with kidney disease is growing in the province, according to a release from Prairie Mountain Health.

A ceiling is being repaired after a Brandon man caused a serious disruption inside a medical facility, including accessing and damaging its ceiling.
A 25-year-old from Brandon is facing Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, two counts of Mischief under $5,000, and Activating a False Fire Alarm charges after an incident in a hospital.
On Monday night, a man began pulling fire alarms at Swan Valley Health Centre without cause. When officers arrived at 8:05 p.m., they found the man in the hospital s lobby. Placing him in handcuffs, he was arrested for Mischief and removed from the hospital.
WINNIPEG Another personal care home in Manitoba has reported a COVID-19 outbreak. On Monday, Dec. 21, Manitoba health officials announced an outbreak of the disease at Concordia Place personal care home in Winnipeg. The province added that the facility has been moved to the critical or red level on its pandemic response system. According to a memo on Concordia Place’s website, it learned on Dec. 20 that one of its health-care workers tested positive for COVID-19, however, no residents who were in contact with this worker are experiencing any respiratory symptoms. Concordia Place said on the advice of the ministry of health or medical director, it may test asymptomatic residents in order to monitor the presence of the disease. At this point though, the personal care home has not been directed to do this.

For the first time in weeks, Manitoba’s daily new case count dipped down below 200 on Monday, while the new deaths were at their lowest total since early November.
Dr. Jazz Atwal, acting deputy chief provincial public health officer, announced 167 new cases of the virus along with four new deaths during a daily news conference. The province hasn’t dipped into the 100s in terms of case count since Nov. 3, and new deaths have been as low since Nov. 5.

Winnipeg s COVID-19 five-day test positivity rate has lovered to 10.5 per cent and a Swan River outbreak is being declared over.
Public health officials advise four additional deaths in people with COVID-19 have been reported today including:
• a female in her 60s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
• a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region;
• a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at the Charleswood Care Centre; and
• a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at the Park Manor Care.
