The result indicates that the group’s total equity increased by 15.3% from N293.08bn in the previous year to N336.48bn in 2020; while loans and advances grew by 1.3% to N749.84bn. Its Profit Before Tax fell by 9.6% to N35.54bn.
Dikko said the Bank, through its partnership with the federal government on the National Social Intervention Programme, facilitated the disbursement N2.5bn and N1.2bn under the N-Power and Government Enterprise & Empowerment Programmes to 300,011 and 109,039 beneficiaries respectively.
“We also reduced interest rates on all BOI-funded projects by 2% p.a. – from 10% to 8% – for a 1-year period, and granted an additional moratorium of 3 months on principal repayment granted to all beneficiaries,” he added.
The Bank of Industry (BOI) says its total assets grew to N1.86 trillion during the 2020 financial year, despite the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on global economies.

South-East Governors and leaders of thought, including Ohanaeze, traditional rulers, and clergymen, yesterday, practically aligned with the South-West zone on the issues of state police, regional security outfit, and ban on open grazing.
This was the kernel of their meeting in Enugu, after deliberations on worsening security situation in the region.
This came as no fewer than eight security operatives were on Saturday night killed by unidentified gunmen in Rivers State.
The meeting endorsed the establishment of Ebube Agu security outfit to work with the Police and other security agencies in their operations to protect lives and properties in South-East zone.

Governors of the South East geo-political zone, on Sunday, rose from a closed-door meeting with the leadership of religious, political and traditional institutions in the zone, Ohaneze Ndigbo and Joint Security Committee, at the Government House, Enugu, reiterating the adoption of EBUBEAGU as the common Joint Security outfit with its Regional Headquarters in Enugu.
They also ordered immediate enforcement of the ban on open grazing by herdsmen in all the states of the South East.
In a Communiqué read by Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum (SEGF) and Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi, the leaders stated that “EBUBEAGU will work with the Police and other security agencies in her operations to protect lives and property in South East”.
