Singapore National Olympic Council Singtel has become the first telco in Singapore to give their customers 5G roaming in 13 different destinations. Singtel 5G customers on 5G NOW or 5G XO Plus plans will be able to use the roaming services overseas if they are using compatible 5G smartphones. There are a total of 18 telcos offering Singtel customers 5G roaming in destinations within Australia, China, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Thailand. Singtel lights SA 5G network - Mobile World Live 25 MAY 2021 Singtel turned on its standalone (SA) 5G network in parts of the city state, becoming the first to offer the upgraded service. The operator claimed its SA 5G network offers 30 per cent faster uploads than LTE, along with stronger authentication and encryption. It deployed more than 1,000 sites running on 3.5GHz spectrum in locations including Orchard Road, the Central Business District, Marina Bay, HarbourFront, Sentosa and residential areas. Tuesday, May 25th 2021 Singtel has become the first mobile services provider in SIngapore to launch a 5G Standalone (SA) network which has twice the responsiveness compared to 4G. Singtel, one of Asia s largest communications technology groups, has 700 million mobile customers in 21 countries. Within a year of receiving its 5G licence, Singtel has now launched 5G SA and installed 5G sites across Singapore in key areas like Orchard Road and Marina Bay.
