Caleb Ewan won the fifth stage of the Giro d Italia on Wednesday in a sprint finish as Italy s Alessandro De Marchi kept hold of the overall lead and one of the favourites Mikel Landa crashed out.
Lotto-Soudal s Ewan overtook Giacomo Nizzolo to triumph in the final metres of a flat, initially uneventful stage that was suddenly hit by collisions as the race came to its climax in Cattolica on the Adriatic coast.

Manama, May 6 (BNA): Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi hailed the press media freedom in the Kingdom of Bahrain in light of the wide-ranging development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. He hailed media strides in an address marking Bahrain Press Day, which is observed annually on May 7, amid celebrations marking the World Press Freedom Day. He saluted the press and media community, extending deepest thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his support to press and media freedom of the right of expression.
Berghaus has appointed
Charlie Pym as its global brand director responsible for global product and marketing for the brand. He joins Berghaus from the cycling category having been the marketing director of McLaren’s Pro Cycling program, which launched Team Bahrain McLaren.
Before that, he was director of communications at Rapha and was managing partner at Saatchi and Saatchi where he led multi-disciplined teams encompassing consumer insights, brand strategy, communications planning, and digital design.
