LAHORE: Giving credit to fine fielding and team effort in earning much-needed victory against South Africa in the two-Test series, head coach Misbah-ul-Haq on Tuesday said he would not underestimate the visitors in the upcoming three-match T20 series, starting at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
“There is no magic wand to turn things around in a day. It is the result of the 16 months of hard work during which we have been losing matches from winning or drawing positions. I feel that our fielding has improved a lot. We availed chances at crucial stages, pulled off fine run-outs and grabbed vital catches which made the difference against Proteas,” Misbah said during a virtual media conference on Tuesday.

KARACHI: Pakistan s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has hailed his team s 2-0 Test series win over South Africa as a much-needed boost for the country s cricket. It was Pakistan s first Test series win over the Proteas since 2003.
Talking to the media on Tuesday, Misbah said that the series against South Africa was very important after the poor performance of the team in New Zealand. I also think for the growth of players it is very important for countries to play Tests at home on a regular basis. It becomes easier for them to go abroad and perform as well, Misbah added.

RAWALPINDI: Stubborn batting from Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen put South Africa on course for a series-levelling victory on Sunday after Mohammad Rizwan’s rippling maiden century had provided the hosts a strong platform in the second and final Test here at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Riding on Rizwan’s undefeated 115, Pakistan set the tourists an improbable target of 370 on just over four sessions of play. And in spite of losing Dean Elgar cheaply for 17, South Africa closed day four in a comfort zone of 127-1, while requiring a further 243 with Markram (59 from 137 balls) and van der Dussen (48 off 94) closing in on a 100-plus partnership in successive Tests.
