Toronto Maple Leafs winger Zach Hyman, expected to be one of the most sought-after forwards on the free-agent market, met with the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.
The meeting was first reported by TSN 1260's Jason Gregor and confirmed by Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.
Hyman is reportedly seeking a long-term contract with more than $6 million in annual salary, something the Maple Leafs would struggle to accommodate due to long-term commitments to John Tavares, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander. However, Johnston reports the Maple Leafs have indicated a sign-and-trade for Hyman -- which would allow the 29-year-old to sign an eight-year contract -- is on the table.
