Young Vestavia Hills woman dies 10 days after she, 2 friends were struck near Avondale Park Updated Dec 14, 2020; A young Vestavia Hills woman who was hit by a vehicle while walking with two of her close friends near Avondale Park has died. Devyn Carder Danley, 25, died Saturday at UAB Hospital, more than a week after she and her friends were struck. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said Danley was pronounced dead at 1:33 a.m. The crash happened Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 4:21 p.m. in a crosswalk at 40th Street South and Fifth Avenue South. Few details have been released about the crash, but the accident is under investigation by Birmingham police.
