York County police departments adopt #8CantWait to mitigate misconduct
The campaign stresses eight ways that police departments can reduce incidents of brutality.
Two prominent York County police departments say the principles in the #8CantWait campaign were already in practice, either formally or informally, but that they see merit in officially recognizing them.
Campaign Zero conceived eight police reform tenets with the goal of reducing police brutality:
Ban choke holds and strangle holds
Require de-escalation techniques
Duty to intervene
Require use-of-force continuum
Require comprehensive reporting
Last month, York City Police Commissioner Mike Muldrow posted on Crimewatch that his department was among many around the country to recognize #8CantWait.
