KYIV. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has requested of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) that the prosecutors probing the Maidan cases come and question him at his temporary residence in Russia, according to requests filed by Yanukovych's defense team, the press service for the Aver Lex law firm said on Tuesday.
"After last week's spreading by the SBI of a new portion of falsehoods about having served a new notice of suspicion concerning treason to the fourth president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, he reiterated his request to the Prosecutor General's Office to visit him in the Russian Federation, where he has been granted temporary refuge," lawyer Vitaliy Serdyuk was quoted by the press service as saying.
