To the editor: Several years back our dear friend from Jackson, New Jersey, died of pancreatic cancer. He asked that his ashes be spread over Lake Colby, as he had so much love for it during his visits there with us. Last week our niece and nephew, also from New Jersey, had a son born, and they named him Colby. From his birth announcement: “His safe arrival brings us so much joy, tranquility and comfort that we decided to name him after a place that is special to us and mirrors those feelings — Lake Colby, one of our favorite spots in the Adirondacks. It seems appropriate to name our son after a place that means so much to us — our first time away together was to Saranac Lake, we got engaged up there, and it’s a piece of our story that we’re excited to share with him.” So true!
