A disturbing discovery in Fairfax County earlier today and tonight a community is wondering now a woman lost her life next to a busy parking garage. Peggy fox has that story. It just makes me very uncomfortable to have this across the street from me basically. Reporter Fairfax County police searched for clues from the air. The body of a woman was found next to a ninestory parking garage in herndon. The body was discovered at about 7 30 this morning lying behind the garage about a foot away from the building which is bordered by wood. The cop said just dont park above the fifth floor. Reporter investigators looked for evidence on the garage floors and collected items from the buildings roof. They carried out a bag of possible clues, but how the woman got there is still mystery. Disturbing. Its very disturbing. Reporter the disturbing discovery was unsettling to this community of workers and residents of several apartment buildings. I saw a bunch of kids walking through. A lady that was by herself and acting strangely approaching an empty building. Reporter police say the woman appeared to be in her 20s and had red hair. Reporter Lincoln Heights has always been a tough neighborhood. What happened here last night has left some of its long term residents injured and afraid. Its really bad. Reporter last night before 10 00 a woman apparently on drugs went off in the street and then into somebodys apartment. I was just getting up for work. Reporter before it was all over four females had been stabbed including a 31yearold mother and her 14yearold daughter. I have four stitches and my daughter has six. Reporter names are not being used to protect the victims. They still have to live here. This 18yearold was stabbed in the face. Her mother says the assailant was no stranger. The senate is moving forward with a deal on the transportation bill brokered over the weekend by two leading lawmakers. And democrats in the house and senate are poised to introduce a new gay rights bill. It is called the equality act. Its a broad legislation designed to protect lgbt people from discrimination in housing, schools and public accommodations. Essentially it would extend the same rights afforded to other groups under the Civil Rights Act in 1964 to lgbt individuals. We expect that bill to be introduced later in the week. Theres some deal making happening right now in the senate. Some lawmakers thought they finally had a deal to pass a transportation bill, but Top Democrats say not so fast. They want to read that 1,000 page first and here is why that matters. That bill could provide 43 billion over three years for road and air travel projects nationwide. The fight is where the money should come from to pay for it, but this is not new. Since 2009 lawmakers have passed 34 short term measures keeping transportation projects afloat but just barely.
