But if you can remember all the way back to 2005, this upcoming game is more than a super bowl. More like a rematch. Super bowl 39 between patriots and eagles was a close game. But 13 years later eagles fans still crimple remembering the devastating blow. Our bruce gordon has the story. Reporter if you look clos closely beneath those heavy winter coats you can almost see the chip on the shoulders eagles fans. 13 years after the birds almost had them lost to the new england patriots. I remember them being in the super bowl. I was in high school. Reporter you remember how they played . Bad. The throw up bowl. I think there was definitely some spy gate going on. This is a chance for redemption. Reporter new england entered that super bowl as defending League Champions still in the early days of what would become a grid iron dynasty. Football historian ray didinger remembers the game well. The patriots were favored. They were favored by seven points. And they were considered the best team in football by many people, um, but the eagles were right there with them. Reporter largely because of the play and their talented but temporary mental wide receiver Terrell Owens who limited into the game on badly injured right ankle to record nine caps for 122 yards. He played magnificently i mean you could make a case even low the eagles lost the game he should have been the mvp. Reporter by the Fourth Quarter tom brady, yeah, hes still around Hillary Clinton given the pats a tenpoint cushion. Then with less than six minutes to go, the birds mounted the most frustrating touchdown drive ever. Don nan mcnabb let the birds on 13 play 79yard scoring drive that pulled the eagles win three points but the drive seemed to take forever. Where is the sense of urgency because you need two scores. This isnt like one score gets you even with them. You need two scores. Reporter philly ran out of time and new england won 2421. A story line later developed that a nervous mcnabb threw up in the huddle during that last scoring drive. Didinger then with nfl nams films watched the game from almost every conceivable angle. So i saw everything that happened. And i never saw any evidence of him throwing up. I didnt the. Reporter later the patriots would be caught video taping opposing coaches on side lines presumably stealing plays. Did spy gate cost philly that super bowl . Probably not. I can understand how eagles fans would say oh, we got cheated, and, you know, thats really our trophy but they stole it from us. Reporter theres an old saying revenge is a dish best served cold. 13 years later, eagles rematch victory would be tasty indeed. Grab a knife and fork. Im bruce gordon, fox 29 news. It will be on ice in minnesota. The end of a chase that depth dps says started when they tried to pull table over for what they described as a moving violation. Table sideswiped a white suv, the driver was not hurt and then smashed head on into a black suv driven by a 47yearold woman. That woman suffered non light threatening injuries. Table skidded for another block and a half and suffered only minor injuries. Officers arrested him there. Dps says table has been in trouble with the law for years. While he was attempting to flee from dps, mitchell table actually called the fox ten newsroom and spoke to a assignment editor kristen good friend. There was a man on the other phone saying he didnt do anything and he wanted people to stop chasing him. Then he said that there was a conspiracy against him. Tough question facing pennsylvania officials. What to do with people who break the law because theyre addicted to drugs . State senator James Brewster hyped a bill that would zen sentence addicts to treatment instead of jail. Our bill anteriornd son is asking will it work . The answer he got is a surprising one. As the issue of addiction continues to grow the stories we hear about families, fighting to overcome it are so common theyre sad honestly no longer shocking. So many phone calls ive gotten from parents saying could you help me get my son arrested because thats the only way i feel comfortable that he wont overdose. Aft years of crys for help, he proposed a bill that would allow judges to sentence addicts to a year in in patient rehab for petty crimes like theft. Seems pretty logical to me if you want to get folks away from addiction, you wouldnt put them into a facility where theyre with people who actually sell that product. Reporter heres the problem. A lot of times when people come up with these solutions, they never ask the people who are directly impact the. So we did. 50 some years ive been getting high finally got tired. Addicted forward over 36 years. I had 24 years. I went back out. Now i got maybe like two, three months coming up. Reporter at the last stop in kensington, they deal with addiction every day from their own team in recovery to user that is just need a meal an mace to crash. There were some who said sentenced rehab just doesnt work. Sentenced by judges. They go because they have to go. They want it they can get it if they dont want it theyre not going to get it. Reporter after hearing constantly that you cant force recovery, i was shocked at how many people actually supported the idea. Chemicals leave. Its all process thought process comes back. Little voice connected to god starts speaking to you. Call the rescue because a lot of these guys need to be rescued and i praise whoever came up with that idea. Reporter rick ford himself in longterm recovery also agreed when the consequences are so high, people may need to be protected from themselves. Youre not arresting them youre probably rescuing people. Theyre a host of folks that would refer to go to jail because they cant figure out what they suffer from. Reporter if being arrested meant mandatory rehab and not incarceration thats how they living now. I think some people would say, please lock me up. Reporter the debate will continue but for now, the belief is that sentencing people to rehab may just help for goodness sake. Im bill anderson.
