Prosecutors have charged the husband of a popular south jersey radio host April Kauffman with her death more than five years after she was found dead in their linwood home. Lets get right tout oh lucy noel in the Operations Center with breaking details. Iain, it is a big day. A long time coming. Prosecutors now say dr. James kauffman a ranged the murder of his wife April Kauffman in 2012 to protect his drug ring. Drug ring during that time they say kauffman was working with members and associates of the pagan motorcycle gang running an illegal pill mill operation out of his office in egg harbor township. Now in 2011 his wife april threatened to divorce him and expose him to authorities. Thats when investigators say kauffman a ranged through a member of the pagan gang his wifes murder. Frank mulholland received a ride to the kauffman residence on may tenth, 2012 of the the doors were left open and Frank Mulholland was given a gun to carry out his task. He went inside and shot April Kauffman twice. I think for the first time today i can actually breathe for the past five and a half years i have felt like ive been holdi g my breath on daily basis. I couldnt even begin to describe to you today, um, the emotions i feel. Prosecutors have charged another man in connection to aprils murder and six others they say are part of the drug ring. The man who they believe actually shot april died of a drug overdose. Now prosecutors say this drug operation actually continued until this past june when Police Arrested kauffman on weapons charges.
