The dreaded early dismissal possibility today. Good morning, 4 00 oclock. Live look at i95 coming through northeast philadelphia passing our camera at fishtown we are looking good there. Example of the road, county line road up there in Montgomery County plus penndot this morning they said they will not put down any salt or brine in afternoons storm is there so much salt will be out on the roadway, fire locations in the neighborhood, fortyfourth and brown, which is just off of lancaster and haverford avenue, and the peco crews are work ago long race street that is closed this morning at fourth. Hopefully that will be opened up before we get in the height of the rush hour and airlines still playing catch up at a water main break at jfk yesterday and this afternoons travel mess with the weather conditions, may want to check with the airline, before you head down to the airport. Karen and thomas back to you. Happening right now with these cold temperatures things like bursting pipes and water main pipes are a real concern, crews have been working 16 her delays trying to get this all under control. Our steve keeley joining us at the scene of the main break in West Philadelphia this morning , steve. Reporter well this break was reported 1 30 and they got it shut off right now and you can see no water flowing but we will gel to the video shot an hour ago and you will see, just the latest, if we dont know of any happening right now because it seems like they are happening once an hour on average, since the new year, in surprise with these cold temperatures, and there is likely some that have happened that we dont even know about because when the fall happens later this week you will see a whole lot of ice turning into water coming through broken pipes, john due julio promises past several days, we have had 20 or more, so, right now, were, were finding water main breaks all around the city. So, unfortunately we are very busy, but were doing our best to get out there and at least shut everything down that we have to to prevent any further damage and we will get repairs donnas quickly as we can. Reporter yesterday morning this time we saw what a water main damage on the surface of a sidewalk can do when it funnels down, beneath ground and, shuts down the vine street expressway, how about that, that became an ice rink and first cars that realized that was too late and then had to shut vine street expressway down because of the water main break overnight at 17th and callowhill above the expressway, and then we saw one on north broad street flowing down broad street subway. So water flows down and in this case where we are, luckily, it is not flowing down into anybodys basement as far as we know and you cab see where this happened as we come back live, picture of a corner business and home, that seems to be long shut down, by licenses and inspections so in terms of water main breaks this seems to be the least affecting residents at 54th and race that we have seen, so far, in our coverage of the so many of them but, dont be surprised if were popping up all around the city throughout the morning, karen and thomas because they are happening once an hour on average, wow, 24 a day. It is very, very difficult to keep up, steve, thanks very much. As if travelers dont have enough to deal with during this deep freeze a water main break flooded baggage claim area at jfk airport in new york city. The evacuations happened yesterday afternoon. That is on top of an already chaotic weekend here that included two planes bumping into each other on the tarmac along with the number of delays and cancellations. The problem, well, there is now i back looking of flights following the storm on thursday. Too much flights landed at the same time, overwhelming the system, and they are simply were not enough gates. All right. 4 15. I think people may be concerned about they will go into work and be fine but way home could be a mess. Big mess. We are dealing with rain, ice, whole lot of other stuff, sue. It is never boring, is it. We have got something interesting, you survive deep freeze of the weekend and now we have snow, sleet, freezing rain on the way. Most of the counties in our area are under a Winter Weather advisory from 1 00 to 9 00 p. M. Today. Only exclusion is poconos, but they may get some snow. Here comes the mess, heading our way, cold front, and it is probably a couple more hours away from affect affecting us, as karen said early part of the day will be probably okay, it is not until after lunchtime we will see this move in. Lets time it out, we have increasing cloud through about lunchtime. Heres noon and it doesnt look like from this computer model anything is happening yet but you see freezing rain moving in. New 1 00 oclock we have northern and western suburbs with the pink here which indicates freezing rain, maybe some snow up in the pocono and then that pink continues to kind of slide n we dont expect a lot of precipitation out of this but it doesnt take much to put that ice glaze on the roads and roads and all of the surfaces are frozen solid from the cold weather and you see this moving through four or five or 6 00 and milder air will change it over to all rain, but it is still going to be slippery around and then 8 00 oclock tonight you see rain continuing down to the south of us. Timing could not be worse for the evening commute, would i say anytime after lunchtime is when you start to keep your eye on the sky, potential for ice, accumulation is there, but maybe. 2 of an inch,. 4 of an inch of Ice Accumulation on the road, again, everything is frozen solid so once even if it falls as rain, it is still going to freeze when it hits surface. We have 17 degrees in philadelphia compare to the weekend lows that is not bad but you factor in the winds which are coming from the southwest which indicates milder air is on the way. So that is eventually going to be a good thing. It is that transition time it will be tough. So it feels like 7 degrees in philadelphia right now. Forty is our average high. Look at the weekend high of 17 on friday. Sixteen on saturday. Nineteen was our high yesterday, and so now that you survived that you have to get through today and we will be right at freezing for a high of 32 but mixture of precipitation. Tomorrow we will be left with windy conditions but up to 40 degrees inn stay there on wednesday, and check out thursday, friday, and even saturday temperatures in the 50s. Now saturday, of course, we have our eagles playoff game and calling it the bolt of the bird, it is at 4 30 in the afternoon. We could be finished with rain by then but it could get colder by then with that early high of 51 degrees. That is early call bob kelly stay tune for more on the game you got it, sue, 4 18. Good morning on a monday, little bit of everything out there this morning. Heres Delaware Avenue again right here anything that looks wet, certainly could be out there potential of black ice, the road surface, still below freezing as sue mentioned only 17, and this afternoon is really where you want to think about your travel plans, think about the kid, what if there is an early dismissal later this afternoon.
