>> reporter: lucy. the fate of that 24-year-old graduate of drexel university rests in the hands of the district attorney tonight. whether to charge him or let him walk free in connection with last night's shooting. >> cell phone video captures moments of violence on the fringe of the drexel campus. no! >> that's the screaming of the dead man's girlfriend say witnesses drexel students three floors from the street heard it all. >> we heard three gunshots, and we just heard people screaming and run running in every correction direct and we heard car horns and stuff and then the police were here win a few minutes. >> reporter: police say it was just before midnight when a female drexel student was involved in a loud argument with her 21-year-old boyfriend. he leaves her. just then say investigators a 24-year-old drexel graduate with a nine mill neither glock pistol an license to carry approaches the woman. >> he walked up to see if the woman was okay. boyfriend returned and assaulted the 24 year old who had the perm to carry report roar the man with the gun takes a punch say police. he pulls his weapon and squeezes off the fatal shots. >> we heard three consecutive gunshots, and then afterwards, um, we her the woman scream wagon did you do? and, um, she was screaming a lot. >> reporter: while detectives moved in and out of local shops, drexel students complained they hadn't heard from the universi university. >> i was really shocked honestly especially more on drexel's part because we haven't really heard any information from them on this, and usually they're the first people month reaction report roar drexel says it use its alert system only in on-going threat to the university community. in a statement its president wrote "safety is always our top priority. tuesday evening a night some here won't soon forget ". >> we saw the woman in the street. she was crying and screaming. then we kind of backed away from the windows and waited to hear more. >> reporter: she also toll us that they shut their lights off because they were fearful. law enforcement sources say the decision to charge this shooter will rest on how aggressively he was attacked and how quickly he shot. live at police headquarters, i'm jeff cole fox 29 news. folks. thank you jeff. people have just started gathering for vigil for the homeless man who police believe a group of teens beat to death in northeast philadelphia. officers found 57-year-old kevin cullen sunday he was lying on the ground with his pockets turned inside out. authorities are working to identify the find the teens involved. hurricane maria left behind the trail of wreckage leaving most families with nothing. one man decided he had to do something about it and move his family to philadelphia. he need add job. he needed a lot more than that as well, and you as usually do our viewers stepped up and our joyce evans first talked to him. joyce after our story aired he even turned down in job offers. >> he absolutely did, iain. but that was only because he had no way to get to them. some of those offers for him came from pretty far away. he doesn't have a car yet. but he is determined at only 26 years old and willing to do whatever it takes to get back on his feet and take care of his own family again. >> ready for big day. >> reporter: dressed to kill as the saying goes. head to toe. >> all set report roar gene's loved ones couldn't be more proud. and gene, he couldn't be more nervous. >> yes. a lot. >> reporter: a lot has hammed in just a few days. >> i'm startin starting from sch over here from zero, yes. >> reporter: we first met gene at philadelphia's disaster assistance service center a week ago. >> just for help, you know. >> reporter: they lost practically everything when hurricane maria slammed into the island of puerto rico. the proud young husband, father of three with another on the way stuck it out for as long as he could until he was forced to go gather his wife, kids and grandmother and head to family in philadelphia. >> i was really nervous to be honest and i was -- i was heart broken. i left puerto rico to be honest i was trying on the plane and everything. >> reporter: life became even more stressful. >> we're just trying to find a job. it's really hard. >> reporter: fox 29 viewers responded to gene's plea for work, saying he would take any job at all. >> and thanks to you guys that's like -- that what really hemmed me out a lot to be honest. the same exact day the news went up on the news, i had a bunch of calls. >> reporter: gene went on back to back interviews. >> custodian. there was a truck driver position. and the chick-fil-a. >> reporter: he really impressed one of them. >> can you believe it? here's hank. >> i can't sigh them labeling ocean city as that type of town. >> reporter: it's hank. i'm on asbury street in beautiful downtown ocean city which some news reports having a the drunkest city in new jersey. my take is, they're wrong. completely wrong. i'll tell you why. retired toll taker tommy agnes took me to breakfast at uncle bill's pancake house today. neither he nor the manager patrick can figure out this story about ocean city being the drunkest town in the garden state. >> you know walking on the boardwalk, strollers, family, you know, it's not that type of town. i can't see it being that type of town. >> i do enjoy that it's a dry town. keeps family atmosphere. >> reporter: yeah. >> yeah. and family atmosphere is really what attracts people to ocean city. >> reporter: just drove all the way up asbury street by the beach, by the boardwalk. not a bar in sight. it's a dry town. what gives? kathy's forecast in just 15 seconds. clear skies, light winds arc beautiful night to be outdoors. i hope you had the chance to get out there tonight and maybe take peek at the international space station a lot of folks saw it. hit me up on twitter if you saw it. temperatures right now pretty decent even down the shore in ocean city. a look at the music peer where we're in the 50's. 56 in philadelphia. the high today 64. that is 13 degrees above normal. pretty mild across the continental u.s. and in the 50's the 60s some and 70s. and to the north even minneapolis in billings in the 40s this afternoon which is mild for them for this time of year. clear skies overnight tonight and during the day tomorrow we'll see a few clouds roll in tomorrow ahead of a cold front. that front has a little bit of rain not a lot. it's going to be after the nine, 10:00 o'clock hour we see the rain move in toward the poconos and lehigh valley. that was philadelphia about 1:00 a.m., 2:00 a.m. early friday morning. and then the skies clear from the northwest to the southeast. so friday mornin we'll be talking about more sun, but temperatures just a little bit cooler than they have been. we're not going to see any more 60s at least not this week. highs this week yesterday 61. today 64. tomorrow still above that average of 51. the same goes for friday. but not quite as warm. when we look at the current snow cover over the us only eight-point 3%. that's not much for this time of year, and now through early next week, temperatures will run above average but after that, it's not going to stay that way. as a matter of fact, by next wednesday, we're going to be seeing bit of a blast of cold air. by december 6th here comes that blast into the great lakes and northern plains and that cold air begins to spill down through the central part of the country and work its way eastward. so temperatures will be changing by next weekend for sure. so overnight, low temperatures mainly in the 30s. 27 in the poconos. during the day tomorrow, temperatures warming again into the 50s. not quite as warm as today. 54 degrees with increasing clouds. that rain comes in late at night. on your seven day forecast from the weather authority, nice start to the month of december on friday. 53. cooler saturday on the rise sunday. and here's another warmup for monday and tuesday. with high temperatures in the mid to upper 50s and here's the change. next wednesday cooler, a shower, 51 and that's a downward trend. but for the meantime, it's looking good at least through early next week. that's a look at your seven day forecast. kristen we send it over to you. >> thanks kathy. >> you can argue with the fact that the eagles ten and one record right now isn't great. it's the best record in the nfl the birds note their play recently needs to be cleaned up for this final stretch. hear what corrections doug pederson wants really?
