>> yes. >> skating rink? >> today. it is opening day for the dilworth park winter garden, and so that includes an ice skating rink, there is a warming tent, there is an outdoor maze, and more to come. there will be carousel inside the rotunda at city hall. >> that will be nice, christmas village still being set up? >> so, answer that question all year long, not just during the holidays, they're saying how about a reading beach? >> a reading beach. let's go to the beach, jen. >> reporter: we're here at the chester charter school for the arts, in amang first grade classroom. good morning, guys. >> good morning. >> reporter: do you guys like reading? >> yes. >> reporter: it is fun, right. >> keep reading. you guys are doing awesome. did everyone get on tv, yes, smile for the camera. so here's what they're doing here. they have kindergarten classrooms in particular. that are part of this reading beach. we have to say hello to one more classroom before we say what's going on. hi, guys, just wanted to say hi. as you can see, read something a big part of the curriculum, so reading beach, we look out here, back into the hallways, and we see some volunteers, that are with the children, basically, you guys have an after schoolrogram, they come every week to read with kindergartners, in particular, right? >> yes, that's true. we have about 50 volunteers that come from the local community. most of which come from local retirement communities. >> and they're rowing the kids, you're saying kinder garth send more reading, too as they get later in kindergarten even first grade? >> yes. it is such a joy to bring our volunteers back year after year. and they're able to witness the growth of our students and how much they've learned. and so you know they're learning so much at this age. and they're growing as readers. it just bridges so much joy to the kids and our volunteers. >> so it is friday's after school. typically these men and women come in. i'll come and say hello. you are being double teamed here, but you love every second of it?
