Schoolbus stop this morning. 15yearold joseph perez sat on the couch still in his hospital gown wednesday night. Nursing some vicious injuries after police say he was brutally attacked by two pitbulls. I thought i was are there to die. Reporter High School Sophomore was on his way to school just before 7 00 a. M. When he heard footsteps behind him and a dog attacked him. I tried jumping into the neighbors yard, and i was trying to close the gate. The other dog came up jumped up over the gate and grabbed my arm. Reporter joseph who suffered wounds to his arms, legs and face started screaming as the dogs refused to release him. Thats when police arrived. He jumps out and then he gets a good aim to the dog and he shoots and kills it. A lot of stuff goes through your mind. Is he okay . Is he dead . You know. Reporter Mildred Perez heard her son screams for help from her upstairs window. She came down in time to see police race him off to the hospital. I heard him screaming and everything. It scared me. Find out two pitt dogs, you know, attacked him. What you supposed to do. Reporter police say 51yearold woman and 46yearold man were also attacked by the dogs here. All three ended up in the hospital. Joseph and his mom want to know who owns the dogs. What if that was their child or somebody else they knew . They would want to come forward. Reporter Mildred Perez shed hick to publicly thank Camden Police officers who got those dogs off her son and raced him to the hospital. She would also like to know who owns those dogs. Students and parents incredibly offended after a group of students getting a lot of attention online after what they wore to school but not for good reason. Reporter well, iain, it was quite a shock to lot of students who were not expecting to see this. Especially as they were making their own demonstration. But the school says theyre taking action. She was like shocked to see it. Reporter reaction Arthur Taylors black daughter had when he says a group of white students showed up wearing Confederate Flags at Gloucester County institute of Technology Last week. To see Something Like this is alarming in this day and age. Reporter pictures of students wearing shirts showing the Confederate Flag circulated on social media and came up after parents say black students election to do wear all black to silently protest Racial Injustice during spirit week when students were encouraged to wear patriotic colors. The larger question for me why didnt anyone ask the africanamerican students why they wore all. Reporter instead white students wore the offensive flag and other students say they did worse in the hallways. The thing that really upset me the most was the banking on the lockers with the belts as if they were beating slaves or Something Like that. Reporter loretta wint Social Security president of the Gloucester County naacp and was called in to meet with the schools africanamerican culture club. They were very structured, um, each one spoke. Reporter she says district officials acknowledged the issue and pledged to resolve the racial tension through a series of meetings. I think that the district is handling it excellently. I couldnt ask for anything better. Reporter Arthur Taylor hopes those who brought the controversial historical symbols to campus learn some history as well. At a school in camden, new jersey, workers with operation warm are setting up for a big give away. These are brand new fresh out of the box coats. Provide warmth to children in need by handing out winter coats. They partnered with Horizon Services and camden firefighters to hand out 500 coats to every student in the school. I need the bigger coat. Im going sleep in this at the shelter or child who is clearly trying to take one thats too small you find out that the reason theyre doing is because they have a younger sibling at home who needs it more than them is astounding that in this country today in the year 2017 we have children who whos family cant cant afford to put coats on them.
