Our viewers hope it is max, formal sentencing is this afternoon around 1 30 for Camden County father who admitted to killing his threeyear old son. He is facing 10 years, max believe it or not. So steve keeley is joining us from the courthouse in camden because even though he is facing 10 and agreed to that he may not serve 10. He has served sometime, steve . Reporter yeah, it is aggravated first degree manslaughter, a plea bargain so 10 years will be the sentence but only has to serve eight abe a half years and next to the courthouse is the jail, and if you have been following this story like likely you have, he has been in that jail since january 2016. So do the math, he will get sentenced for time served already and credited for that, so he is going to be out, in likely seven years, he is only 24. Chances are he will be 30 years old, even though he will admit that he killed his threeyear old son for who knows why. He never admitted anything until august 23rd. We werent in the court. In fact no reporters were in the court. Not even the local paper because be in was given a head up like we were today. So sentencing is at 1 30 this afternoon. Here in new jersey, we are allowed to have cameras in the courtroom. But nobody was present. When he admitted, essentially recklessly causing his sons death, by cutting off his oxygen supply. So we dont know how he dit. But we do know his son and him were in his apartment in westmont and then suddenly his sonnies in the water at cooper river, almost a mile away, with clean socks and he wanted people to believe that the son wandered off or somebody, somehow came in the apartment and then took his son there we now know what everybody always suspected that he killed his son, and for that, he is going to do seven years from this point on max which is probably going to upset a whole lot of people and maybe he will give an explanation or an apology in open court today. Jenny joyce has more. Reporter good morning, guys. Victim 20 yearold Joshua Mitchell and we have been searching all over social media. Aloft people are learning about this awful news, something that happened last night they are posting about mitchell, it happened right here at childrens plaza in downtown phoenixville just before 10 00 p. M. Now police are looking for this man, 21 yearold keyon lesean carpenter, a man believed to be armed and dangerous. Police say multiple witnesses came forward to identify carpenter and believe that they shot mitchell after the two got in the fight on the streets, according to police, mitchell tried to runaway but carpenter chased after when he pulled out a gun and fatally shot the victim in the upper body. Police say carpenter also fired his weapon, at witnesses in the area, but no one else thankfully was reported injured. The shooting happened on the 200 block of bridge street, thinks a main hub of downtown phoenixville with active shops and restaurant still opened at 9 45 when the shooting happened.
