Reporter this is Surveillance Video from a store up the block right around the time of the murder. Neighbors say they heard a gunshot, then saw a man in a hoodie fleeing southbound aramingo being chased by a neighbor. It doesnt seem like this is any type of random Home Invasion or anything like that. It seems like this particular home at least was targeted. Reporter homicide detectives say the victim was at home with her twoyearold daughter when neighbors heard a gunshot. She lives here with her father and boyfriend who was at the store buying milk at the time of the murder. Dont make no sense. They came in the house when he left. Just again a blessing that this twoyearold was not injured. Reporter detectives dont have a motive for the murder. They questioned her father and boyfriend for several hours along with neighbors. Police have little to go on. Doesnt appear any items are missing from the property. Its the devil. I mean, because thats the only person i know that could do Something Like this. Reporter Police Believe the killer may have been lurking on the block before the murder and saw the victims boyfriend leave to go to the store. Then went inside and shot her in the head. Okay, dave, thanks. A berks county man charged tonight after police say he drove his car into a barricade at the u. S. Capitol. Captain Capitol Police say antonio, crash his car this morning. Hes now being charged with felony destruction of property and unlawful entry. Police say the car was cleared of hazards when it was taken from the barricades. Some streets in the area were also closed temporarily. That barricade has now been reopened. Amber alert issued for a 16yearold girl abductioned from her home in wilkesbarre. Police say that Jenna Paterson was taken from her home last night on east view drive by this man, 21yearold walter lewis. Police say lewis is armed with a handgun and is considered dangerous. Investigators say the two left on foot but they may be traveling in a red car. If you spot them, call 911. Okay. Another hot day today but tonight people are celebrating the holidays. As we expand the view, you can see were talking about temperatures pretty uniform outside the city. Right now upper 80s for most but the dew points the measure of moisture in the atmosphere it has dropped considerably since yesterday. So whats ahead more of a dry heat. Were talking about the heat wave continuing into the weekend and there might be the threat of a popup shower or thunderstorm tomorrow. So coming up well talk much more about festivities taking place here for christmas in july as well as how long this snow is going to stick around. Do you recognize him . Window was busted out on the skate hundred block of lime kiln pike in West Oak Lane sunday morning. Police say a video camera worth about 70 was taken. If you know who this guy is, give police a call. What if police could prevent a crime not just by patrolling but predicting. Well thats where it will happen happen. It may sound like a plot of tv series or blockbuster film but it may be closer to reality than you may think. Fox 29 weekends Bill Anderson live in our newsroom. Bill i predict youre going to tell us how this all could be possible. Youve already got it. Local company has developed a program called hunch lab thats getting pretty close to some of the things that we have seen in the movies. Obviously they cant predict specific crimes but by looking at models and trends they may be able to predict generally where and when crime may take place. Reporter many of us have seen it in the movies. Predicting crime before they happen and sending the police to stop crimes expected to happen. Although local company hunch lab doesnt go that far they do use various date to predict the likelihood crimes happening in certain areas throughout the city. So each one of these areas is the highest risk area. It correlates with crime. It doesnt necessarily mean it causes the crime. Reporter local company has been working with police depths across the country includeing a trial here in philadelphia to point out how some pretty unusual things could be indicators of possible future crimes. Whereas things like, um the road information and the weather pressure and wind bearing might represent storms. So maybe when its storming outside, people are less likely to steal cars and police should focus on something. Reporter hunch lab look at weather, faces of the man moon, past crimes and other facts they think with that information they can help police figure out where they should patrol and the areas where they should be to help prevent crimes. So the idea is that if you have a same amount of policing resources, right you want to send them to the locations where theyre going to have the most impact. Reporter technology is exciting and several Police Departments are taking a look at it. But the people at hunch lab warn that you shouldnt expect Science Fiction or Television Shows in real life police work. This is nothing like minority report. This is really just about forecasting the likelihood of a certain event potentially occurring and trying to have the Police Department more able to respond. Police are after the pair who they say made withdrawals at this atm in wynnefield using a stolen credit card theyre accusing taking cash not only here but at several locations throughout the city. This Port Richmond playground has been around for he can decades. It was a centerpiece of the community it was before that stalled ren know vague lock the kids out and lead confused parents to give us a call. Corner of thompson and indiana ought to be filled with the sounds of children laughing and playing, beating the heat on a hot summers day. Instead, a dull dusty silence. Padlocked fence surrounds piles of gravel and overturned saw horses. This has the swing set. Reporter longtime residents like Barbara Staley who played here when they were kids are fed. This summer has gone by and theres nothing that has been done to this play ground. Reporter nothing for the kids to do in the neighborhood. Nothing for the children to do, no. No. Reporter the playground a longtime centerpiece of this neighborhood was torn up by the city back in may for a complete overhaul. But neighbors say about a month or so ago with the place half finished work seemed to stop. This month i can honestly say maybe two three days tops there has been a crew in here for an hour an hour and a half, thats it. Reporter we saw young kids forced to take their games to the sidewalk for one fall step puts em that into traffic and alternatives well they arent much alternative. Sound like youre frustrated by that. I had to walk six block to a playground allegheny the one down there and i dont like my kids crossing allegheny avenue. Reporter neighbors explained this project appears to have stalled pretty much completely. My calls to the city came a mid of flurry of emails among the parties responsible for the workly one from the department of public property to the contractor demanding a continuous presence on site. Moments later an email from council mark squillas office to public property noting fox 29 is at stokely now. Ugh. And finally confirmation from public property that the contractor will be at the site monday and that there will be continuous work at the site. Two big signs outside the half finished playground trumpet the renovation project as another milestone in philadelphias progress. Folks around here would consider that a joke. Except theyre not laughing. Its very disheartening, because, you know, this playground seems to be, you know, disowned by the city. Reporter the contractor gessler construction told me by email this afternoon they have work as fast and as efficiently as possible. They blame the slow down on a back ordered part for the new spray park at the playground and a late change order from the city.
