on the scene of a school bus crash on the beltway. sky fox over the scene right now and this happened just good a half mile ago. it happened on the inner loop of the beltway near morningside. what you're looking at are live pictures on your screen. on the left sky fox and a traffic camera on your right. the bus was rear-ended by another vehicle. no one was hurt. there were some reports of some injuries, but of course this is a fluid situation and we'll continue to stay on top it of and bring you the latest information as we get it. learning new details about a george's county police officers to the hovment it happened in mitchellville along lots road. matt ackland is live at the scene. >>reporter: this road behind me it was blocked off for about an hour today as police investigat ed trying to find out exactly what caused the collision. there were three officers inside the car. they were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and to be evaluated. but the big question tonight is what led up to this. let's take you to sky fox video high above the scene. police tell us those three officers were inside two cars and all they will say is that they were involved in some type of investigation when they collided . we asked if there was a chase or a pursuit of some kind, but police would only tell us the officers were involved in some type of investigation. now , the road was opened right about 3:00. it had been closed down for i'd and a half and once again the officers were taken from here to the hospital we're told to be evaluated. live in mitchell ville tonight, matt ackland, fox5 local news. >> a woman found dead this morning inside of a trash can behind a vacant home is believed to be the same woman reported missing from her home in northeast. she was last seen the day before thanksgiving outside of her mother's home. it was a discovery that brought her family to the scene. paul wagner is live in north tonight with the story. paul. >>reporter: hi, jim. it was 19 days ago that anyone saw joan i rock incorporate ham alive outside her mother's house not too far from here. and it was just around eight:30 this morning that police say someone found a body inside a trash can just like this one behind this vacant house here on 34th street northwest. d.c. police at this hour have not positively identified the body but they're treating it as a homicide and they do believe it's t woman. when the body was discovered around eight:30 this morning the word spread fast. concerned friends and neighbors weren't absolutely north, but they thought it might be sha receipt, a woman well known in this community. it hurt, someone that you know show close . she knew me since i was knee high. the day before thanksgiving the 53 year old was last seen outside her mother's house talking on the phone. she had received a phone call and she left out the house and that was the last she was saw. we did a search that saturday and then a week later we did another search. we walked up and down these alleys. she wasn't nowhere to be found. d.c. police found hours at the scene behind a vacant house on 34th street paying close attention to this trash can which crime scene technicians loaded into a van and took away. her body was placed here. we know that for a factec whole area. we have searched the whole neighborhood. share e te lived in this neighborhood and her disappearance touched a nerve. i was searching for her for so long. i went through all these parks looking for her. this thanksgiving. this news is so disturbing the mayor came to the scene unannounced. i want to check in on the neighbors. a tight-it in community now in morning. the question is how long that body may have been here. rest accidents say that the trash collection was supposed to be today. the residents were telling us they've been searching all over this neighborhood, up and down these allies looking for her. they say that this bod disi wouldn't have been here a representatives with the naacp met with maryland governor larry hoag april. they asked for state intervention after they úfound out that students are graduating without meeting requirements. lindsay watts broke the story back in june. she joins us now with the latest developments. >>reporter: the governorror was here at naacp headquarters to meet with members as well as parents. that was a private meeting, but we can show you some video. we heard calls today for the head of prince george's county schools to either resign or be fired and some are wanting the governor to step in to interest intervene and have him removed. what we heard from the governor today is that he is not prepared to do that. he says this is issue that should be left to the county executive. the governor, though, still had some very harsh words. he had a lot to say about what's going on in this school system. he said out right that corruption was found in the grade fixing audit and he knows many have lost faith in the school ceo kevin maxwell. that audit found 30 percent of recent graduates surveyed were ineligible to grad ate or didn't have proper records to determine if they were eligible. it also found efforts to manipulate records before auditors came in to schools. the school ceo dr. maxwell has primarily blamed sloppy records keeping for the audit results. here is some of what was said after the meeting today. people are outraged and we keep telling the countiette equal and the school board that there is a disconnect. at the end of the day it's all about our our children. the ceo must go. he doesn't care about our children. the ceo must go. they must be held accountable. people are outraged. they lost faith in the school board and the superintendent of the school system many that's not up for us to decide. that's for the county executive to decide. hogan is leaving this to the county executive rushern baker who is running against hogan for governor. despite the fact that he is not stepping in to remove the school ceo they are still happy with the attention the governor is giving this issue and the fact that he was willing to come down and meet with them today. we're christmas trees for the last five years and have raised over $35,000 that goes directly to the burn unit at washington hospital center. that's great. know this is the first year, too, that there's avenue station. one person was shot on the platform last night. the two suspectses involved were captured by surveillance cameras. anyone who recognizes should call police. one person was dead, another injured after a two-car head on collision in landover. maryland state police responded around nine on the outer loop. nicholas clark was going the wrong way when he crashed into the pickup truck. clark was pronounced dead at the scene. but the driver of the truck jason brown was taken to the hospital in critical condition. in stafford county a man is fac ing burglary and drug charges for going into a neighbor's home without the other than's permission. deputy i arrested 24 year old victor mers wind after he admitted to the crime. he entered the home out of concern for hire neighbors after he heard was sounded like a gufn shot. he is currently being held without bond. a northern virginia high school student say s he was physically removed from class and thrown out into the cold by his teacher for not standing up for the pledge of allegiance. it happened during driver's ed class last month. that teacher won't be returning to any public school in fairfax county. angelica lee. jim, 15 year olderric tram tram el and his family had been speaking to a lawyer after all of this. she tells me that he says this is the first time he's received any backlash for something he has chosen to do for more than a year now. take a listen to what that lawyer says happened. it didn't stand up. mr. ferric told him to stand up and he again said i'm 23409 going to do that respectfully. i mean he wasn't making a scene or anything. and then mr. fer pic grabbed him, shoved him outside, made him stand in the cold. somewhere along the line this some comment this isn't choosing to sit during the pledge of allegiance is about as benign a show of your personal values you you you could possibly ask for. not raising a scene, not yelling , not protesting anything with a novembes here at centerville high school she says eric was the only student who did not stand up for the pledge of allegiance that day. that's been something he's been doing since eighth grade when he is an afric black lives movement and it's way of demonstrating against racial equality and the current plit california climate. prince george's county schools called the action un. no student shall be subjected to unfavorable comment or sigma advertisization of his or her participation or abstain from the pledge of allegiance. students are expected to sit quietly or stand quietly if they want. the statement did not identify the teacher, but it did say he was not returning to any fairfax county public school and has a apologized to the student and his family. meanwhile, guys, this teacher. his name is richard ferric. he is also lawyered up for now and that lawyer sent us this statement a mr. ferric has been a teacher with an impeccable record to prince george's county 32 years. the alg gas spotsylvania county woman was just 19 we she vanished in december of 2015 and the case has left investigators puzzled. paul wagner with re wind to the crime. >>reporter: they have done seemingly everything they can think of to solve the case. we've worked with three psycho tics. the two say they are constantly thinking about the investigation wondering what they may have missed both of them puzzled over two messages sent from the teen's phone the day she dwis peered. i'm staying with a phone friend. i need could time alone. these are two separate texts. but bang bank. >> these are the ones you were sent you believe from the tower in stafford county. no one in the investigation and certainly not anyone in caitlyn's family think she was the one who typed those messages. do you think she sent those messages in. >> no, be messages in a row. caitlyn doesn't do that. lisa sullivan is caitlyn's mom. she drove her disawrt to the part low, virginia home of her equilibriums home. the two had remained friends. when james agreed to drive caitlyn to reagan national airport for a flight to arizona, lisa dropped her off. he seemed happy to see her, very happy, excitedded. they were talking about her cosmetology school with her high school diploma they were both looking at it. caitlyn's flight was at five, but according to james the steen wanted to be dropped off at springfield mall to quill sometime before taking the subway to the airport. at one:52 p.m. he sent this message to list a. i dropped caitlyn off . okay. thank you. how was traffic? >> not too bad. eight minutes later lisa received a text from caitlyn's phone that said i'm at the airport, battery dying so won't be able to text for a minutes later the text that sent a wave of fear overlies a and her family. i'm staying with a friend. i need sometime alone. text messages investigators say were sent not from the airport, but from caitlyn's phone in stafford county. caitlyn had never made it to springfield mall and they gab to question james. the last time anyone saw caitlyn alive was here at the home of her ex stepfather. they say that brandt on has not been truthful with them about where he took caitlyn the day she disappeared. they also say he's refused to take a polygraph test and he's declined to turn over the password to his encrypted cellphone. we attempted to reach james brandon to get his side of the story leaving this note in the mailbox and calling him on the phone. you've not spoken to him in nearly two years? >> nope. he has nothing to do searched his home taking a variety of guns, electronics and his dna, there was nothing that would lead him to caitlyn. if all that wasn't mysterious enough, there was another twist two days after she failed to board her flight they found her was a clear indication that it had tumbled. although caitlyn's mother is convinced her daughter did not disappear on her own there was a facebook message caitlyn sent to a friend that said she doesn't want to be here, meaning virginia and she be in arizona. where she was living with her fiance amber. as the days and months go by with no sign of caitlyn, lisa and her family have marked special equations by releasing ambulance into the air. at the same time she quept the pressure on james leaving this letter at his home in coming weeks. do you care at all. i trusted you, james. why didn't
