17 year old was discovered late this evening in the woods of a bethesda neighborhood. police are trying to piece together exactly what happened. fox5 evan lambert is life in bethesda this >>reporter: multiple sources tell us tonight that the teenag ed victim was a senior at walt whitman high school. police telling us that he was last seen last night around 11: 30. investigators tonight found that teen's body here in the woods near the bannic burn swiem club. we got an update from investigators just moments ago. here's that. during the course of the investigation officers came across the missing male and he was found deceased in the wooded area in the 6500 block of lane rocco oh of lave rock lane. when we got here tonight we saw several teenagers clearly emotional while they learned their friend was found dead. a witness told me teens had been searching for the teen all day. police confirming 11:30 in this eamplet it is unclear when the victim was reported missing. police have not identified the teen or said anything about the cause of death, but what we do know is that tomorrow morning will be definitely a tough one for students and staff at walt whitman high school. he was working a d ui check point when he was hit by a drunk driver back on december 3, 2015. he died from his injuries one week later. his death led to the creation of noaa's law which fits second region. there are two big shows at the capital arena. the hot 99.5. fall powt boy, ke$ha and charley poosh. on thursday, the transsiberian orchestra will be rocking stage. on tuesday the hanukkah three:25 p.m. on tuesday. there will be a live musical performances and special holiday treats. the best way to get there is metro. now to mount vernon and i love mentioning events here because it's so family friendly and you get to take some history lessons. mount vernon is holding an event called christmas illuminations. there will be dancing, rein enact ors, sigh der by bon fire and then by eight:45 p.m., fireworks. saturday is sold out but there is still tickets for friday evening. it's $30 foray duties but for four dollars extra you get a tour of george washington's mansion. nothing gets you in the holiday spirit like base baseball, right? the washington nationals are holding winter fest on saturday and and sunday. there will be players and coaches on hand and all sorts of activities to get you geared up for the season. kids can make a snow forth, take batting practice just to name a few. it's $29. a saturday in arlington a very special tradition will take place, they'll gather to place reets on the arlington cemetery it takes place rain or shine. we spoke with one of the organizers, dan immediate about the importance of this tradition . we have a lot of gold star mothers who come up with us. this year i have three of them that i'm hosting. it will be their first time. their husbands passed away in a helicopter crash back in july. the stories you hear from the people, it's just amazing. just the thankful in. a lot of people haven't had any family come there. we started 153 years ago there. so we say their names. they say you died twice, once your body dice and once you stop so we always make sure we say the veteran's name. nearly 2,000 reets will be placed. metro is your best bet. security screening starts at 7 a.m. coming up, a d.c. school 17 year old was discovered late this evening in the woods of a bethesda neighborhood. police are trying to piece together exactly what happened. fox5 evan lambert is life in bethesda this >>reporter: multiple sources tell us tonight that the teenag ed victim was a senior at walt whitman high school. police telling us that he was last seen last night around 11: 30. investigators tonight found that teen's body here in the woods near the bannic burn swiem club. we got an update from investigators just moments ago. here's that. during the course of the investigation officers came across the missing male and he was found deceased in the wooded area in the 6500 block of lane rocco oh of lave rock lane. when we got here tonight we saw several teenagers clearly emotional while they learned their friend was found dead. a witness told me teens had been searching for the teen all day. police confirming 11:30 in this eamplet it is unclear when the victim was reported missing. police have not identified the teen or said anything about the cause of death, but what we do know is that tomorrow morning will be definitely a tough one for students and staff at walt whitman high school. tonight live in bethesda, evan bam letter, fox5 local news. and new details tonight about one of the victims killed in a crash on i270 in rockville. carlos wolf of gaithersburg was a supervisory this person caught on home surveillance video stealing a package from a front porch. this happened in the 5400 block ever lth street in northwest. if you recognize the person, call police. a search underway knit for this missing montgomery county woman. take a good look at her. police say 36 year old kristin bestics was last seen by friends on november 9. she was reported missing on november 22 she has a l upper chest and she was last seen with red hairstyle in braids. anyone who knows her whereabouts is asked to call montgomery county. montgomery county is recognizing officer noaaly otto. he was working a d ui check point when he was hit by a drunk driver back on december 3, 2015. he died from his injuries one week later. his death led to the creation of noaa's law which fits second time offenders with an interlock device on their cars. the driver who hit and killed him was sentenced to ten years in prison. it is the season of giving and today dozens of bowie police officers were making progress, but overnight they faced a setback when santa and a winds kicked up again. so far one death is blamed on the fires. they've destroyed more than 800 homes and buildings and forced the evacuation of nearly 100,000 residents. we're looking for rualry, documents, anything that we could find. unfortunately it's just a bunch of ash a entering the recovery face right now. we're trying to help the people that were affected by the fires get back on their feet. about 9,000 firefighters are battling the wild fires that are still burning tonight. and it's been months since hurricane maria ravageed puerto rico and they're still trieg struggling to recover. for the past month members of arlington's county's police force are helping. a dozen officers have donated their times to bring in flashlights and other supplies. the officers are staying on the island for another week. now to the continuing tensions between the united states and north korea, the us, south korea fifth anniversary of the sandy hook elementary school shooting. vigils were held across the country this weekend. twenty children and six teach efers were killed in the mass shooting in connecticut. many called on congress to enact commonsense gun control. some say they are making progress in changing peopling's minds. it's definitely important tha day that we mourn the tragic shooting in newtown, but we also have to acknowledge all we have accomplished over the last five years. the community of newtown is close to designing a permanent memorial that will honor the victims. a commission was formed in 2013 but or location for the memorial. a florida police officer who responded to the pulse nightclub shooting says he is losing his job because he suffers from ptsd . tonight nightclub attack he suffers from ptsd and because that he is los ing his job. the timing under ten years of service leaves him in a really tough spot. why they're letting me go six months before i can receive my pension. tonight the town of eatonville is responding. corporal del gat oh will receive his full pension benefits regard less of his less than ten years of employment. the town says with the disability pension he can get 42 percent of his salary right away. the announcement comes after del g oh's story has gotten national attention, but local leaders say they're not changing their tune, just clearing things up. why the clarification now? is it because all of the pressure you guys have been getting? the clarification is really -- the challenge is to show our commitment to our staff, our first responders and the staff of the town of eatonville. so we felt like this was the best way to communicate that. a statement from del gat oh's attorney says if the town of eatonville is serious in their statements about allowing corporate del gat oh to retire with his full peption, then i a plawd the town of eatonville to allowing del gat oh to retire with the respect and dignity point chauffeur appears to reach towards the waste bafned his pantsdz and thal ' when the officer opens fire. two pellets ette guns were found in his hotel. officer was acquit ted of murder just last week. wwe rich swan has been suspended following his arrest in florida. swan is accused of falsely imprisoning and batter ing his wife. they were arguing after swam criticized a recent pfo point his wife got out of the car and tried to runaway. he chased her, grabbed her by the neck and dragged her back to the car. swan denies the allegations. a health warning tonight for a popular holiday treat. the fda says a certain kind of sprinkles. you use them on cookies and cake, cupcakes, apparently the sprinkles are not safe to eat. we're talking about the small round silver springs also. the issue
