christmas. >> i'm excited shopping done? >> not yet. >> i like the challenge of last-minute shopping. >> slowly but surely. we'll start with a live look this morning. boy, isn't that beautiful? great sky out there. what a difference a day makes yesterday. of course, we were dealing with the on coming onslaught of the first snov the season. didn't turn to be be to much onslaught. things cleared up nicely and bright, brisk day out this morning. >> it was nice to sai see grassy area covered and winter wondrerland. let's look at the snow from yesterday. flakes started falling after 8:00 and kept going most of the day and mid afternoon i would say most of the city looked like a winter wondrerland, right, gary. >> beautiful, beautiful. >> snow stopped and we are in for a change now. you know, we've been unseasonably warm the last couple weeks. dpary that stopped now and we're into real, real winter weather. >> yeah, part of the week. cold air comes in and settles in a couple days. the the pattern looks like overall will stay chilly the next couple weeks and right into chris 345s leading up to christmas no guarantees and annie was trying to pin me down for a white christmas. i'm not going there yet. if we're cold for christmas i'm saying there's a chance. blustery chill and winds pick up out of the west. temperatures now a the lot of clouds over the area over overnight. little bit of a breeze. even with the snow on ground temperatures have stayed right around freezing for some. a little bit above freezing and actually temperatures are going up and down depending on the cloud cover and depending on the wind. so there's been a lot of temperatures at freezing or below. be careful around the slick spots i didn't have any problems coming into work this morning and around the house maybe you may have a slick spot here or there. wind chill is is present and certainly will be present today and when the the winds king wheeling in upper 30s and wind chilly all day long and mostly in the 20s now and generally feeling like we're in the 30s all day long today. now we have to wait for a minute while satellite and radar loads. hopefully it will load. maybe it won't, hopefully it will. fy push the button maybe it will. it's not loading. there you go. sometimes you have is to wait. especially on sundays i learned. here it is. snow showers around. maybe each a flurry or two around this morning. you can still see some during the morning hours. and it looks like we'll probably be mostly cloudy now for the next few hours and then more into the sunshine later this afternoon. certainly late morning, early afternoon we should have more sunshine out there. breezy today, winds west 15 to 20, 25 miles an hour and gusts to 30 and high today touches upper0s and low 40s and guys it's not going to feel like that. i'll come back in a bit and show you how much snow we had in places and look at the cold week ahead. >> gary, thank you time is 7:05. learning more about self isless actions of deputy police fire marshall killed as helping fbi special agent that crashed i 270 rockville. >> both men died after another car hit them and this morning their colleagues are reacting to this tragedy. "fox5" kristin leon liver outside the volunteer fire station in rockville this morning where one of the victims you tell us is a long time volunteer there, kristin. >> reporter: tom, annie, that's right, this is where 33-year-old sanders cohen behind me worked at the rockville volunteer fire department as you mentioned. and if you could take a closer look to the levrts there you can see that the flags remain at half staph this morning a little more than or roughly close to 48 hours after the accident took place on friday. now, here's a picture of cohen now a little more about him here. we're told cohen was a volunteer fire department and maryland state fire marshall office deputy chief. we don't have a picture of the second victim, but he was identified 36-year-old supervisory special agent carlos wolf who we're told was 11 year fbi veteran. deputy chief cohen was as assisting special agent wolf at the time who was involved in a crash in his suv. both officers were off duty. they pulled cars over to the shoulder of the fast lane of 270 blocking on coming traffic. cohen, with his hazards on and both men wore standing outside. that's when the driver of a honda accord swerved and hit both of the men. we're told both men were thrown over the jersey wall to the northbound side of 70. deputy chief cohen died at the scene. special agent wolf died in the hospital. as you're about to hear now, both men were very well respected and by peers. >> he stopped. he helped someone in need. and now he joined the ranks of fallen heros. he told the barracks he would be safeguarding the scene and would be out with the driver. excuse me. the investigation indicate deputy chief cohen and driver of suv moved to the shoulder of the fast lane they were standing there and a southbound vehicle swerved on to the shoulder struck both of them. >> you can hear the sadness and shaky ness in his voice there. the fbi took to twitter and experienced their condolences saying "our deepest condolences go out to family, friend and colleagues of fbi supervisory special agent carlos wolf who pass away last night after being involved in a motorcycle accident. please keep supervisory special agent wolf family in your thoughts and prayers" and governor larry hogan took to facebook expressing his condolences saying and i quote "we're deeply saended that two law enforcement officers were struck and killed on i 270 last night and fbi supervisory special agent carlos wolf and depcy chief state fire marshall sand acohen member of the rockville volunteer fire department served our communities every day to keep our families safe. we thank these officers for their selfless dedication to our state and nation" and the favorite lady and i send heart feld prayers to family, loved ones and friend during this tragic time." right now they don't believe alcohol was involved in both crashes here and officials are still investigating these crashes at the time. we'll let you know in figure else develops here. for now reporting live in rockville, christine leon. like this and goes to rendered aid, then that person's potentially coming into contact with illegal drug that could possibly be on somebody's body. it's not just a problem for the people that are out there. temperatures now 34. we're above freezing here. gaithersburg 29. still a little below wouldn't surprise me if we're system a little below freezing inside the beltway in some places. be careful around your house unless you treated things nicely. 27 pittsburgh and 26 for columbus. let's me show you what is going on north up here in canada. true arctic air is signature up here in later this week it will make a run for us. that means much, much colder temperatures especially as we get to wednesday and thursday super cool later today. wind dom come down from the north west and west. it will be gusty. windy, wind speeds will be 15 to 5 and maybe up to 0 this afternoon. clouds and sun more sunshine late in the afternoon. just so you know. here's where we are this morning. lots of clouds. 35 or so. 10 a.m. 1:00, we're 40. and again mixture of clouds and sun. definitely more sun for the afternoon than we have this morning. 9 or so by 4:00. i think we top out around 40 for a high. look what fruit fewer cast shows us. today in good shape. high pressure moving across. it will be nice tomorrow with lots of sun sheen and tomorrow evening we watch another system coming into this. clipper type system. early, early tuesday morning should not be a huge problem. at least not the way we're looking at it right now. a few snow showers well norm of us. and this could mix with a little bit of rain or sleet briefly early, early, tuesday morning we'll watch this if it gets stronger certainly it could cause a problem with tuesday morning commute. right now things look pretty good 40 today. warmer tomorrow and tuesday and bottom drops out. wednesday we'll be in the upper 20s and low 30s for highs and the whipped will be blowing to feel like teens and 20s own wednesday. still cold on thursday. and maybe a few flakes and not a big deal. and light rain possibly a little snow mixed in on friday i don't see storms but it staidz chilly. >> thank you very much. time 7:23.
