They gathered to oppose the unte the right rally. Heather heyer was lled that day, and more thano two dzen others injured including a woman from Northern Virginia. The victim told the judge about the fear that still consumes their daily lives. Some of them can no longer go out and run because of broken legs a some are still struggling to walk again and so many of them talked about suffering from ptsd. Here now theon reacti from Heather Heyers mom and one of the activists who marched that day and witnessed the hatefilled attack. Knowing that he wont be out again to cause more harm to more people helps. A knowing that clear message has been sent hoping to prevent other deaths, that helps. He gets what he deserves. After two nights of debates, voters have now heard from 20 of the democratic hopefuls. Entering this week former Vice President joe biden was the clear frontrunner, butt now seems like we know who his biggest competition may be. Steve, lets start with the moment everybody is still talking about, that Tense Exchange betwn senator Kamala Harris and biden about race. Will that move the needle for harris, and how is it impacting biden so far . Yeah. Its interesting. Biden already trying today to clarify his comments so clearly his campaign feels theres some work to be done in the wake of e that mo last night. Also there are some early indications from an overnight poll, a snap poll that was taken. Morning consult did that that showed Kamala Harris surging in the wake of the debate and biden dropping somewhat. Harris moving into a tie for second place nationally. She had been much lower. Biden in the lead and his lead reduced, so the early indication there is th joe biden suffered somewhat from this debate and that Kamala Harris bashedly improved her dcision and as for her she will get a lot more attention, a lot more Media Attention and attention from activists now so it gives her a shot in the limelight. And taking into account both deate nights, who has to double down and get busy and get to work . Yeah. The biggest challenge coming out is frankly for joe biden. Not just the substantive disputi he had w Kamala Harris. I think what has his folks unnerved around his campaign and emocratic voters is how he handled it. He had a week to be prepared for the possibility that someone, and Kamala Harris onm, hi might challenge him on the stage, and his response, he seemed unfocused and seemed to be grasping for words, and a lot of people looked at that and saide th remember joe biden from 2012 and remember him from 2008, hand that looked like a different biden on the stage. Can the old biden return next time around, or is this the new normal . I think thats a b question. A look at where the Democratic Party is right now and where does itneedto head . Its fascinating. I mean, the Common Thread here between most of the answers that tyou heard from all of candidates last night is they believed candidates who this party has moved substantially to the left just since donald trump has become president. You can see that panicularly o questions around immigration, questions around race and a little bit there with that question of private insurance andKamala Harris at least in the moment on stage seeming to endorse the idea of getting rid of private insuran ne.
