this long driveway, the end of a long quiet very rural area. the address, as you mentioned, rg.technically fredericks this is several miles southeast of town. look at you tscrre viewenig fr chopper 4 earlier today, you can see a little bit of police th activity a home. police say someone called them out to this house at arlene acres drive at 9:00 this morning. they were suspicious something was going on inside this home. that was at 9:00 a.m. as of 4:00, police have not said who the people we, if they're related, if they are related, nor how they died. > with respect to the investigation and died in what appears to have been a freak accident. a vehicle collided with a street sweeper and lost control and hit the motorcycle and tossed him into traffic. we are hearing from those who knew officer davon mckenzie just 24 years old. the chief just spoke about this. this is pretty tough for the department. >> reporter: pat, this is a sad day in prince george's county, the chief speaking publicly for the first time about this tragic loss. he and members of the command staff spent hours at the prince george's hospital l night hoping against hope. the off-duty officer in the accidentdied. officer davon mckenzie chose to be a police officer because h wanted to protect the community where he was raised. >> he was an example of the vert finest policing in america has to offer. > reporter: this is where the fatal crash happened. the southbound lanes of the beltway where 24-year-old off-duty officervo damckenzie was riding his motorcycle just after 11:00 p.m. maryland state police say mckenzie was hit by a car that careened off a street sweeper, losing control, striking officer mckenzi's motorcycle, throwing him over the jersey wall, where he was struck by two the word? >> storms coming back in this region now? >> we got a chance, coming in around 6:00, 7:00, 8:00. we are not seeing much in the way of storms in our area. the reason because all the storms are back towards pennsylvania, going west and sucking out the chances for storms in our area. >> we hit 92 degrees for a temperature. breezy, humid and like that tomorrow. more storm chances tomorrow. >> and we think a better chance area-wide. i'm getting a lot of people on twitter and facebook. what's going on? what's the chances of storms? we're not looking at anything right now. somebody asked me taking a look at this,an iake a run between 5:00 and 6:00? right now, yes. we are watching this area to see showers around pittsburgpa and s of the west. this is the area that was strong rlier, really diminished making its way our way. if it is able to make its way across the mountains into our atmosphere we could see a resurgence. all the action to pennsylvania. tornado warnings and watches here. have incredibly large hail. this boundary is a little too far north of us, nothing around the mason dixon line. showing storms around our region, severe storms watch towards roanoke and to the north and westnd more severe weather and tornadoes in the portions of texas, oklahoma and parts of arkansas. this will continue tomorrow. then, we get a little bit of break for severe weather and great weather the next couple of days. amelia. >> exactly. looking really nice out there friday and saturday and tomorrow if we hit 90 degrees again our first heat wave. starting off similar to today. already hotut there. temperatures, 74 degrees. partly sunny skies throughout the day. lunchtime, 8 scattered thundershowers tomorrow at about 2:00 p.m. we see that disturbance move hrough the area and heavy rain is a possibility tomorrow with thunderstorms by about 7:00 p.m., still at 74 degrees out there. as we take a look, this ison no tomorrow. plenty of cloudiness out there. once we hit 2:00 p.m., scattered showers, rumbles of thunder developing. look at this line of heavy rainfall moving through the area. this could slow down the evening commute. by 8:00 p.m., they exit the arof to the east. impact tomorrow, the biggest concern is heavy rain followed by stro gusty winds. low tornadoes and maybe small hail. storms are looking much more omlikely trow. then, friday, friday is a great fredericksburg. no victims' names have been released yet but officials say there is no threat to the community. the police chief in prince george's county said an officer killed while off-duty represented the finest in our country. davon mckenzie wasff-duty riding a motorcycle when an impact stru him and sent him intoi incom traffic. he was just 24 years old. police have identified one of the drivers killed in a wrong way wreck in brandywine. one person died after another driver hit his car head-on. police have not identified that other driver, trying to figure out why that person veered into oncoming traffic on brandy wine road. robert mueller spoke for the irst time today about his investigation. he resigning special counsel said he could not charge president trump with a crime because of justice policy. he also said he could not clear mr. trump of obstruction of justice. >> thank you, erica. robert mueller's statement is creating quite the buzz throughout washington. >> a lot of republicans are saying the russia probe should now just end. more democrats are calling fori eachment procedures. >> nbc news senior political editor, mark murray, is tracking today's reaction to the breaking news. mark, for you, what was the ak meggest te away from mueller's surprise announce today? >> number one, we finally heard his voice, which was something over this last two years, oh, that's what he sounds like. to me, the biggest headline ofh ever was his statement that today, this was also mentioned in the mueller report as well but he forcefly said if we had evidence that the president did not commit crimes would havesaid that. that's an indirect roundabout way of saying, hey, there ishi somet there there when it comes to obstruction situation. because of department of justice regulations you can't necessarily charge a sitting president. thirdly, most importantly, it goes to congress, has to be the ones deciding this.p this does the ball in n ncy pelosi's court. we're already seeing democratic presidential candidates weighin in, yes,u need to begin impehment proceedings now. what was extraordinar was once again mueller raising his voice, if i could have exonerated the president, i would have de so. >> why didn't he come out and say that in those words? >> sometimes a lawyer wants to be very precise with his or her own language,yalwas, mueller has been incredibly cautious. this stands out when i was covering the ken starr bill clinton imeachment, not as cautious and conservative, go-go go, charge charge char, the big starr report that came mueller has been incredibly cautious throughout. today, what he ended up sying i thought was once again very cautious but still packs a ve powerful punch because of the way, if you want to think critically what he is saying, ngy, coss, there is something for you to investigate. >> where does it go from here? now.'s in congress's hands one of the criticisms house speaker nancy pelosi continues to get there still is no north star what they're investigating. you have different committees investigating different things. deep down, pelosi also knows if this goes to the senate. imachment is a two-step process. the house brings the procedures and th it's up to the senate tot acqui or convict the president. they don't have the numbers now. if the house goes its way and senate carroll county, until 5:30, not much going on he rest of the area. i want to zoom in east of frederick and 270 and urbana could have 60 miles an ho nds and large hail, coming near mt. airy and east 50 miles an hour -- 30 miles an hour, that's how fast this one is moving. we have others that srted to develop. see this area in pennsylvania and this area to the south. is there a connection as they make their way in extreme heat. 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 tonight, we have to continue to watch. another area back to the west, what we're looking at for tomorrow. another chance for severe weather area-wide tomorrow maybe not th highest parameters and could see a couple storms tomorrow. winds at0 miles an hour. temperatures on the warm side for sure. heat index in the mid-90s. 91, lynchburg and 91
