there. some places feels like negative degrees. unbelievable. >> that girl said it best, right, chuck bell? can't have enough layers on. >> keep on layering. that's the only advise for today. the wind will not be as much of an issue tomorrow, but the northwest wind, which has been driving the ever colder air into the region, that is still with us here this morning. it will be with us for the remainder of the daylight hours this afternoon. current temperatures, these are the air temperatures, not the wind chills, we're all generally above zero, with the lone exception being warrington, virginia. minus one. hats off to you, below zero this morning. most of the suburbs at 10 degrees downtown. not much of a warmup today. single numbers between now and 8:00 in the morning. then a slow rise to the upper teens to maybe as much as 20 degrees. we're in weather alert mode because of the wind chill advisory. wind chills will be running below zero for most of the morning and only recovering a little later on. the feels likeac more about tomorrow and a little chance for iciness on monday is coming up. >> chuck bell on a saturday. we'll check in with you then. we're following this developing story out of maryland. take a look at this. images from chopper 4 capturing a fire that's raging at a home. you can see the intensity of the flames. incredible there. montgomery county fire investigators say someone used a flammable liquid to restart a fire in their fireplace. well, it quickly spread to the back deck and then the deck of the neighboring homes. we're told in all, five townhouses affected here. look at this. it was so cold outside that all the equipment froze. montgomery county fire said it was 9 degrees with a wind chill of negative 5. this caused all together, this fire, $1 million in damage. left 20 people without a place to call home this morning. now a story we broke here on news 4. fired after his school learned that he was a leader in the alt-right movement. >> greg conte was an organizer of the violent rally in charlottesville this summer. mark segraves spoke with conte about being terminated. >> reporter: he told me he wasn't surprised the leadership here at holy cross fired him, but he said he was disappointed because he enjoyed his years here as a teacher and a coach. greg conte had been a substitute teacher here at the academy of the holy cross since august of 2014. he spoke to news 4 by phone. >> i think they fired me because they were afraid of negative backlash in the media. >> reporter: according to school officials, there was never any problems with his work or complaints from parents or students. but in october, the school got an anonymous tip, alerting them to a news article identifying the teacher and track coach as a leader in the alt-right movement, and one of the organizers of the recent protests in charlottesville that turned conte can be seen in this youtube video from the charlottesville protest next to richard spencer. conte is in the blue blazer and sunglasses. greg conte used an alias for his work in the alt-right movement and on his social media accounts. >> yeah, i want to, you know, do it anonymously because there are huge social costs to being publicly in favor of the alt-right positions. >> reporter: in a letter to parents, the head of holy cross wrote, a substitute teacher, greg conte, is a member of the alt-right movement and has been fired. >> there's going to come a time where institutions, whether it's schools or employers, just have to say, you know, i don't care. >> reporter: conte tells me at this point he doesn't plan to contest his firing with legal action. he wants to focus on his work with the alt-right movement. in kensington, mark segraves, news 4. this next story is one that parents around our area. a former school aide accused of being hiv positive and sexually abusing students, bell pleaded guilty friday to more than 27 counts related to molesting children. prosecutors also say the former charles county school aide tried to transmit the virus to some of the victims. police do not believe any of the boys contracted it. bell worked at a middle school in waldorf and coached track. he'll face up to 190 years in prison when sentenced in march. does that include under the prison? former redskin quarterback mcnabb has been fired from his job at espn after a month long sexual harassment investigation. mcnabb was named in a lawsuit by a makeup artist. it was brought against him and the nfl network and several other players. the woman said mcnabb sent her inappropriate text mcnabb spent one year playing in washington after 11 seasons in philadelphia. i don't know if you saw this, but this is incredible video. it's dashcam video that was released first to news 4. you're looking at the aftermath right there in those images. that's the dashcam video. shows what led up to a man shooting at a deputy and virginia state trooper as they were chasing him up 95. this happened last week. a stafford county sheriff's deputy gets on 95. he and a state trooper are chasing the black suv. investigators believe the driver, gregory lee, shot and killed his wife. a few minutes into the chase, you see the suv stop and the driver angles himself into the left lane and opens fire on the deputy. the deputy is okay but bullets cracked his windshield. the fabric on his headrest, it goes right through. he keeps on going. a few miles up was the suv flipping over. we're showing it to you again. look at that, right off to the right, hits the guardrail and spins in t m investigators believe the driver had shot himself and that's what led up to him losing control. he later died at the hospital. new this morning, one lucky lottery ticketholder in port richie, florida, is off to a great start in 2018. that's because he matched all six mega million numbers drawn last night. 28, 30, 39, 59, 70 with a gold mega ball number of 10. the jackpot winner is getting $450 million. this is the largest jackpot in mega millions history. but there is still a chance for you to win. the jackpot for tonight's powerball drawing is worth $570 million. make sure to grab a ticket if you haven't already. >> i think i have family in port richie, florida. >> do you really? >> showing restraint but earlier, taking to twitter to release fury of his own, calling the book full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don't exist. mr. trump's legal team tried to block the book's release. in such high demand, it hit shelves four days early. >> where do i send the box of chocolates? here. >> happy saturday, everybody. i wish i had better news. if you've been around the washington areas the last couple days, there's really no surprise coming. we're going to stay way below freezing. we only made 21 degrees for a high temperature yesterday. so i looked it up. today, the one word, frigidity. air temperatures will be near zero tomorrow morning. moisture coming back on monday. there may be a little chance for some iciness on monday. we'll keep a close eye on that. we're in weather alert mode today because of the wind chills, which are as much as 10 to 15 below zero idea he would be taking fire as he pursued a car on i-95. >> this is absolutely incredible. we requested this video first and got our hands on it first on 4. we're giving you the chance to go inside the dashcam avideo. you'll be in the cruiser with the deputy the moment he was dodging bullets. the scene halted tr we showed you the overturned suv. we began to piece together what happened. now, we can take you along with stafford county deputies as it all played out. this is the view out of deputy mccormick's windshield. the deputy hauling down courthouse road to the 95 onramp. turning north, his timing perfect. the suspect's suv in the far left lane. not far behind it, a virginia state trooper in pursuit. >> he's entering on the interstate, getting behind the black suv, the ford explorer, not knowing two miles down the road, the subject fired upon the trooper. >> investigators say the man behind the wheel of the suv is 43-year-old gregory lee. he shot and killed his wife in their apartment. after a few miles on the highway, watch the suv swerve to the middle lane. the trooper and deputy keeping close. suddenly, the car stops on the int interstate. watch as he angles his vehicle into 45 degree angle, trying to get a position to fire a shot, which he did. >> deputy mccormick quickly maneuvering his cruiser to the far right shoulder. he saw what we couldn't. we'll slow it down. look closely. that is a handgun pointed out the window. the bullet hitting both the trooper and mccormick's windshield. some of the windshield had shattered, causing him to bleed. he thought, perhaps, he'd be shot. even thinking that, he continues the pursuit. a few miles up, keep watching. >> wpull over. >> lee died at the hospital. investigators believe he put the gun to his own head and pulled the trigger. >> i believe in my heart there was divine intervention involved. the bullet came through my windshield. >> proud of his deputy's quick actions. going outside in this weather is not pleasant, but one prince george's county man h found somewhere warm to stay. 65-year-old daniel dehaven was last seen tuesday morning at the costco store on baltimore avenue. dehaven suffers from dementia. his family continues to remain hopeful with the outpour of help from the prince skbrogeorge's c police and volunteers. >> we found that prince george's county police are out here in huge numbers. it's really encouraging to see that. then we've had just an impressive outreach on social media, of volunteers from far and wide. >> if you like to help in the search for daniel dehavehaven, o our nbc washington app and use the search term, search help. switching gears here, maryland congressman elijah cummings remains in the hospital this morning. the u.s. representative had a minor procedure friday at johns hopkins hospito bacterial infection from his knee. last may, cummings was hospitalized for a heart valve replacement. he was supposed to return to congress after the operation but then he got an infection while in surgery. the congressman is said to be resting and is expected to make a full recovery. happening today in alabama, an arson investigation is underway after a woman who accused u.s. senate candidate roy moore of sexual misconduct lost her home in a fire. no one was home when that fire started. investigators do have a person of interest but say there is no indication the fire had anything to do with the woman's allegations against roy moore. several women accused moore of sexual misconduct, dating back more than 40 years. those are allegations that he always denied. now, he would eventually lose that senate race to democrat doug jones. it is the book everyone is talking about and can't seem to get their hands on quickly enough. we're talking about wolff's "fire and muir fury." it is an explosive book about the trump white house. jackie benson report how there had to be an emergency second delivery of copies. >> wanted to let you know that copies are back on hand. we have the copies behind the register here. >> reporter: inside the northwest d.c. bookstore once described by a national magazine as liberal washington's most sacred space, the release of michael wolff's "fire and fury" wasse an event with a capital e >> we're leaving for africa tomorrow. we have to have a copy. i ordered one somewhere else and it was coming but it's not here yet. >> reporter: the day began with people lined up outside the door at opening time. co-owner bradley graham said they bought up the store's 80 copies in 15 minutes. >> we were fortunate in being able to find several hundred more copies that arrived by mid afternoon. >> reporter: graham compares it to the excitement over a new significant difference. >> nobody expected that. you expect when a new hea"harry potter" book is going to be out, it'll be in great demand. this one caught everybody by surprise. >> got a call saying it's in? >> yeah. >> reporter: many called ahead to reserve their copy. >> this is the second delivery, they said. yeah, at least i guess, right? yeah. >> reporter: i spoke with one man who got three copies. he told me he was purchasing them for people who didn't want to be seen buying the book. in northwest, jackie benson, news 4. we are following breaking news this morning in prince george's county. take a look at this car stuck in the sink hole that was created by a water main break. this is on 52nd avenue and emerson street in edmundson. the car has been towed away. wssc is aware of the break but hasn't yet turned off the water. as you can imagine, it could be this cold weather is creating a lot of work for wssc. they're working 54 water main breaks right now in prince george's county alone. your time is 6:38. we're back at overnight, with the wind dying away, temperatures will really have a chance to bottom out early tomorrow morning. that will be as a result of clear skies and a light wind. that will mean temperatures
